Keira Knightley depicted the time of starring in Pirates of the Caribbean as terrible.

When Keira Knightley became famous at a young age, she realized that being well-known brought her own difficulties.

Even though she was thankful for the encouragement she received for playing Elizabeth Swann in the Disney films, she confessed that the intense fame was really upsetting for her.

According to Knightley herself, she found the experience to be "pretty terrible."

Being an introverted person, she had a hard time dealing with the constant attention and fame that came at such a young age.

The pressure of being in the spotlight during a crucial time of personal growth made the situation even more distressing for her.

She acknowledged that her teenage years were a time of vulnerability.

Knightley emphasized that this stage of life, especially for girls, is already uncertain and delicate.

Knightley's strong desire for perfection and her high expectations put additional weight on her shoulders during the early stages of her career.

In an interview with Harper's Bazaar, she openly shared she often had the feeling of not being good enough and her ambitious drive to continuously better herself.

This tireless pursuit hurt her well-being, affecting both her physical and mental state.

"I was always pushing myself to become better and better, constantly seeking improvement. But living that way was incredibly tiring. It drained all my energy," Knightley said.

Keira Knightley admitted that she admired her 22-year-old self and wished to regain some of that spirit.

She acknowledged that it was only after moving away from that mindset that she realized how remarkable it was.

However, she also asserted that there was a price to pay for such intensity.

Eventually, Knightley, known for her role in Pirates of the Caribbean, wouldn't change anything.

She considers herself incredibly fortunate at present, with a career she genuinely enjoys and a level of fame that is much less overwhelming.

However, it took her many years of therapy to reach this point of stability.
