On social media, Donald Trump reacts to Joe Biden’s devastating prostate cancer diagnosis.
Donald Trump has issued a public statement responding to Joe Biden’s aggressive prostate cancer diagnosis, setting aside political rivalry.
Trump and Melania express sympathy after Biden’s cancer diagnosis
Former President Donald Trump responded Sunday to Joe Biden’s shocking prostate cancer diagnosis with a rare note of sympathy.
“We are saddened to hear this news,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “We wish Joe a fast and successful recovery.”
Additionally, Melania Trump also joined in expressing support, according to sources close to the former first lady.
The gesture surprised many given the long-standing animosity between the two political opponents.
Previously, Trump’s eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., was the first to respond to the news with a post on his Instagram story.
“He also publicly acknowledged Biden’s diagnosis and offered well wishes
“Politics aside, we wish him a speedy recovery,” he wrote, sharing headlines about Biden’s prognosis.
Biden’s diagnosis shows high-grade metastatic prostate cancer
Biden’s diagnosis reveals a high-grade prostate cancer with metastasis, marking a serious health challenge for the former president
Biden was diagnosed Friday with prostate cancer graded at Gleason score 9, the most aggressive level.
The cancer has spread to bone tissue. The announcement came after a medical evaluation. Biden had reported increased urinary symptoms and a newly detected prostate nodule.
Additionally, doctors also confirmed the cancer is hormone-sensitive, which means treatment could help manage the disease more effectively.
‘The President and his family are reviewing treatment options with his physicians,’ it states.
Biden’s cancer history includes treatment and national advocacy
In 2023, Biden had a cancerous skin lesion removed and previously underwent treatment for multiple non-melanoma skin cancers.
During his term, Biden revived the Cancer Moonshot Initiative, aiming to cut cancer deaths in half by 2047.
This mission has been personal. His son Beau Biden died from brain cancer in 2015 at the age of 46.
President Biden has linked Beau’s cancer to exposure from military burn pits during service in Iraq.
Many had already questioned Biden’s age and health. These concerns existed within the Democratic Party even before his cancer diagnosis.
At 81, Biden was the oldest person to serve as president. He faced regular scrutiny about his age and stamina.
Previously, Trump often criticized Biden as “Sleepy Joe”. The U.S president also claimed the White House was run by handlers rather than Biden himself.
Some Democratic leaders now admit Biden should not have sought re-election and say internal advisers misled them on his fitness.
Biden appears, but scrutiny grows over cognitive issues.
Biden made recent public appearances, but media scrutiny continues to mount as a book exposes his cognitive struggles
CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios’ Alex Thompson are releasing a book about Biden’s mental decline and its alleged cover-up.
Titled Original Sin, the book claims aides shielded Biden and details a behind-the-scenes effort to mask his health struggles.
Previously, the book revealed that Biden’s physical deterioration sparked concerns about his ability to lead the U.S.
According to the book, Biden’s halting walk had become so pronounced that aides considered using a wheelchair — but only after the election.
“Biden’s physical deterioration — most apparent in his halting walk — had become so severe that there were internal discussions about putting the president in a wheelchair, but they couldn’t do so until after the election,” read an except from Original Sin.
Physician Kevin O’Connor, according to the book, warned that a bad fall could require a wheelchair for recovery.
He urged more rest time in Biden’s schedule to protect his stamina and reduce visible fatigue.
“Given Biden’s age, [his physician Kevin O’Connor] also privately said that if he had another bad fall, a wheelchair might be necessary for what could be a difficult recovery,” Thompson and Tapper wrote.
Additionally, The book notes that Biden had only a small daily window — 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. — where he functioned effectively.
Outside those hours, fatigue set in quickly. Verbal miscues and confusion became more frequent and harder to hide.
Despite these issues, the administration maintained a public image of a capable leader, denying any health-related cover-up.
