Philadelphia Eagles star’s mother becomes target as Chiefs fans retaliate over offensive social media post about Travis Kelce.
Gardner-Johnson’s Taunt sparks online backlash
C.J. Gardner-Johnson’s post-Super Bowl taunt aimed at Travis Kelce has sparked an intense reaction from Chiefs fans and Swifties.
The Eagles’ defensive back mocked Kelce after Philadelphia’s dominant 40-22 victory over Kansas City in Super Bowl 2025.
He posted a snapshot of their on-field exchange at Caesars Superdome on Instagram, adding a vulgar caption referencing Kelce’s past relationship.
Chiefs fans target Gardner-Johnson’s mother’s restaurant
Following Gardner-Johnson’s post, fans took out their frustration on his mother’s business. Delatron Johnson, his mother, owns Kings Grill in Rockledge, Florida.
On Monday, Yelp flagged and removed multiple negative reviews left on the restaurant’s page.
Yelp later added a warning, stating: “This business is being monitored by Yelp’s Support team for content related to media reports.”
Gardner-Johnson’s caption suggested Kelce “should’ve stayed” with his ex-girlfriend, Kayla Nicole. Kelce, 35, and Nicole dated on and off for five years before ending their relationship in 2022. Since then, Kelce has moved on with Taylor Swift, who supported him from a private suite during the Super Bowl.
As of Tuesday, the Kings Grill page on Yelp displayed a warning label that stated: “This business is being monitored by Yelp’s Support team for content related to media reports.”
Gardner-Johnson has yet to address the backlash. He has not clarified his post or mentioned Nicole by name.
Kayla Nicole’s presence at the Super Bowl adds to drama
Nicole attended the game in New Orleans and later celebrated with Eagles fans on the field.
Her presence sparked further discussion on social media, adding to the ongoing controversy.
Meanwhile, Kelce and Swift were not seen together after the Chiefs’ loss.
The three-time Super Bowl champion recorded just four receptions for 39 yards before retreating to his hotel room postgame, according to reports.
Kelce’s Future in the NFL remains uncertain
Kelce faces an offseason filled with speculation about his playing future. After 12 seasons with the Chiefs, retirement questions loom over the star tight end.
He has previously expressed interest in an entertainment career post-football. Kelce has hosted “Saturday Night Live” and currently leads Prime Video’s “Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?” His podcast, “New Heights,” co-hosted with brother Jason Kelce, recently won the “Podcast of the Year” award.
What started as a playful taunt escalated into a full-scale online feud. Chiefs fans took swift action, targeting Gardner-Johnson’s mother’s restaurant.
As tensions continue to rise, Kelce’s future remains uncertain. Whether he returns to the NFL or pivots to entertainment, his next move will be highly anticipated.
