Ellen DeGeneres has reportedly sold her final U.S. property, marking the completion of her move as she fully relocates to the United Kingdom.
Ellen DeGeneres sells her last California home to finally move to England
Ellen DeGeneres has officially severed her ties with the United States. The former talk show host, 67, has sold one of her last remaining properties following her move to the UK.
Four months ago, she and her wife, Portia de Rossi, settled in the English countryside.
While, the couple purchased a luxurious $18 million farmhouse in the Cotswolds.
DeGeneres once had an extensive real estate portfolio in the U.S.
Earlier this month, she sold her two-bedroom, two-bathroom home in Montecito, California.
On March 10, she and de Rossi listed the property for $4.99 million. They originally purchased the home for $2.9 million four years ago.
The 1,691-square-foot Spanish bungalow quickly attracted buyers. Less than two weeks later, it sold for $5.2 million. A real estate representative told People that the property received “multiple offers within two days of hitting the market.”
Features of the luxurious California property
The Montecito home was built in 1954 and underwent a major remodel in 2012. It featured “spa-like” bathrooms, a private courtyard, a terrace, and an enclosed patio.
According to Architectural Digest, this was the couple’s third property purchase within a year.
The sale of their California home follows their decision to relocate to England. DeGeneres and de Rossi moved after President Trump’s election victory.
In their new home, they joined a community of wealthy residents. Their farmhouse purchase exceeded the asking price by $3 million.
However, their transition has not been entirely smooth.
Additionally, the couple recently faced disputes with British neighbors over an extension on their multimillion-dollar home.
Despite this, they continue to enjoy their new life in the Cotswolds.
High-profile neighbors in the cotswolds
The Cotswolds is a picturesque region, home to many celebrities.
DeGeneres and de Rossi now share their neighborhood with British stars like David and Victoria Beckham, Kate Moss, Elizabeth Hurley, and Jeremy Clarkson.
The area also boasts a royal presence, as King Charles and Queen Camilla own Highgrove House in Gloucestershire.
Amid their relocation, DeGeneres and de Rossi celebrated a milestone in their relationship. On social media, they marked 20 years together with a heartfelt post.
“20 years together. Happy to be with you everywhere and always,” DeGeneres wrote on Instagram. The couple, who married in 2008, continue to embrace their new life in the UK.
