Users worldwide struggled to access their accounts and services during the outage.

Musk’s comments drew significant attention and sparked a heated online debate.

How did the Microsoft outage affect global users?

The global outage, which occurred on a busy weekday, left many individuals and businesses unable to use essential Microsoft products.

The error began at 6 pm ET on July 18.

The problem is linked to Windows workstations, so, banks, supermarkets, airlines, and rail services were all affected.

The security firm Crowdstrike issued a software update just hours before the outage.

Cloud services, which power a wide range of applications and store vital data, were particularly impacted.

This outage also disrupted business operations, hindered communication, and affected productivity for countless users.

This disruption has affected several major airlines, like Delta, United, and American Airlines.

Because of this, they stopped all flights, no matter where they were going.

Crowdstrike’s CEO responds to the outage

Microsoft quickly acknowledged the problem and worked to resolve the issues.

However, the downtime caused considerable frustration.

“The outage was not a security incident or cyberattack,” Crowdstrike’s CEO, George Kurtz claimed.

“Crowdstrike is actively working with customers impacted by a defect found in a single content update for Windows hosts,” he added.

“Mac and Linux hosts are not impacted […] The issue has been identified, isolated and a fix has been deployed,” Kurtz concluded.

Microsoft quickly moved to address the issue.

The company issued apologies to affected users and worked diligently to restore services.

The tech giant also provided updates on the progress of their efforts to resolve the problem.

They reassured users that they were taking steps to prevent similar issues in the future and were committed to improving their services.

Musk’s fans are really enjoying his recent post. It has over 52,000 likes as of July 19.

Social media reaction

The response to Musk’s remarks was mixed.

Some people appreciated his humor and found his comments to be a refreshing take on a frustrating situation.

Me, a Tesla employee, fully effected by the outage. Couldn’t even get into my computer for the first half of my shift, one user said.

Let’s not forget the little kid that was trolling him posting all of his jet moves, the second user commented.

Still not as bad as his vehicles, the third user claimed.

It wasn’t even Microsoft’s fault. That’s like blaming Tesla because someone’s electric toothbrush isn’t working, another wrote.
