Elon Musk’s neighbor reveals what it’s like living next door to world’s richest man
Elon Musk moved into a compound near Austin, Texas, and has brought significant security measures with him.
Paul Hemmer, a neighbor living close to Musk, expressed his frustration over the tight security surrounding the billionaire’s home.
He described the property as resembling “Fort Knox” due to the heavy surveillance.
Hemmer noted that he feels constantly watched by the numerous security cameras installed around Musk’s property.

Last year, Musk’s security team accused Hemmer of indecent exposure.
Hemmer denied this claim, stating that he was only wearing black underwear on his own property at the time.
Neighbors worry about Musk’s extensive surveillance.
The situation escalated when Hemmer’s activities were captured on camera.
He mentioned feeling uneasy knowing that security guards were watching him during private moments, such as when he was walking his dog.
He said, “The cameras got me, it’s scary; they have guys sitting and watching me pee.”

In response to the surveillance, Hemmer decided to take action.
He flew a drone over Musk’s property to document what he believes are zoning violations
His aim was to gather evidence of the issues he and other neighbors have been facing since Musk moved in.
Local complaints about Musk’s installations
The arrival of Elon Musk has stirred up complaints from local residents.
After he built a 16-foot chain-link fence around his compound, a group of neighbors filed a formal complaint against him.
The fence exceeds local height restrictions by 10 feet, raising concerns about privacy and aesthetics in the area.
Additionally, Musk installed outward-facing surveillance cameras that have further annoyed his neighbors.

Hemmer and others have expressed their discontent about increased traffic in the neighborhood.
In a complaint, Hemmer stated, “Transporting service employees to other houses, leaving their cars on our quiet streets, hauling laundry to and fro to other houses has to stop.”
Zoning commission decides on Musk’s property issues.
Neighbors, including Hemmer, appealed to the West Lake Hills Zoning and Planning Commission regarding Musk’s property modifications.
The commission listened to their concerns and sided with the residents.
Commissioner Jim Pledger commented on the importance of following the rules, stating, “If an exception was made, we’d incentivize people to break the rules.”
The West Lake Hills city council is set to review the commission’s decision soon.
The council may require Musk to remove structures that violate local regulations.
