Chris Columbus, director of Home Alone 2, says Trump’s cameo feels like a curse and admits he wishes it wasn’t included.
Chris Columbus, the director of “Home Alone 2: Lost in New York,” recently shared his thoughts about Donald Trump’s cameo in the film.
His comments have sparked a lot of discussions, especially given the current political climate.
Columbus expressed regret over the decision to include Trump, saying it has become somewhat of a “curse.”

Trump’s iconic cameo in Home Alone 2
In “Home Alone 2,” Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, finds himself lost in New York City.
During his adventures, he encounters Donald Trump at the Plaza Hotel.
This brief appearance has become one of the memorable moments in the film. However, Columbus now wishes it had never happened.

Columbus explained that the cameo was not meant to be political.
At the time of filming, Trump was a well-known businessman and a significant figure in New York.
The director thought that having Trump would add to the film’s appeal. However, in hindsight, Columbus feels differently about that choice.
Home Alone 2 director calls Trump’s cameo in the movie a curse and wishes it removed
In a recent interview, Columbus stated, “I wish it was not there.” His comments highlight a shift in public perception regarding Trump.
What was once seen as a fun cameo has taken on a different meaning over the years.
Columbus believes that the inclusion of Trump now overshadows the film itself.
“But it’s there. It’s become an albatross for me. I just wish it was gone,” he said.

He also said that he “can’t cut it” now. “I’ll be considered sort of not fit to live in the United States, so I’ll have to go back to Italy or something,” he said.
In response, Trump took to social media to express his thoughts about this cameo.
“I was very busy, and didn’t want to do it,” Trump wrote.
“They were very nice, but above all, persistent. I agreed, and the rest is history! That little cameo took off like a rocket, and the movie was a big success, and still is, especially around Christmas time.
People call me whenever it is aired. Now, however, 30 years later, Columbus (what was his real name?) put out a statement that I bullied myself into the movie.
Nothing could be further from the truth. That cameo helped make the movie a success …
Just another Hollywood guy from the past looking for a quick fix of Trump publicity for himself!”
