During an interview with Fox News, JD Vance reveals Elon Musk’s next steps after his DOGE stint ends.
JD Vance reveals Elon Musk’s future plans after his DOGE stint, stating he will remain a key adviser and continue influencing policy decisions.
Musk will remain a key adviser to the Trump administration
Elon Musk’s time at the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is ending soon. However, he will continue to advise the Trump administration.
Vice President JD Vance confirmed this on Thursday, saying Musk will remain a “friend and adviser” to both him and President Trump.
Musk’s DOGE role was always meant to be temporary
Musk was brought in to cut government waste and streamline operations. His tenure was designed to last only 130 days, per federal regulations.
“We needed him to shrink the bloated bureaucracy,” Vance explained. “That was always the plan, and that’s what Elon signed up for.”
His last day is expected to be May 30, exactly 130 days after Trump’s inauguration.
Left-wing media claims of a Trump-Musk split are false
Reports from media outlets suggested Musk’s departure signaled a falling-out with Trump. Vance dismissed these claims as “fake news.”
“Elon’s work is far from done,” he said. “DOGE’s mission continues, and so does Musk’s influence.”
Speaking to Fox News, JD Vance declared, ‘Of course, he’s going to continue to be an adviser.’
“Elon came in, and we said, ‘We need you to make government more efficient, we need you to shrink the incredible fat bureaucracy that thwarts the will of the American people but also costs way too much money,’” the veep continued.
“Fundamentally, Elon is going to remain a friend and an adviser of both me and the president — and he’s done a lot of good things.” He added.
Additionally, Musk himself addressed the timeline, saying he expected to complete most of his work to reduce the deficit by $1 trillion within this period.
Vance also admitted that the work of DOGE is not done.
During the interview, Vance clarified that the work of DOGE will continue despite Elon Musk stepping down from his role after 130 days of leadership.
“The work of DOGE is not even close to done. The work of Elon is not even close to done,” he said. “DOGE has got a lot of work to do … that work is going to continue after Elon leaves.”Musk, for his part, acknowledged the 130-day limit just last week, saying in a separate Fox interview, “I think we will have accomplished most of the work required to reduce the deficit by $1 trillion within that time frame.”
Major DOGE cuts have already reshaped federal agencies
Musk’s impact on DOGE has been significant. His team made major cuts at agencies like:
– The US Agency for International Development
– The Department of Education
– The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
– The Social Security Administration
Vance highlighted the waste uncovered in these departments. He cited fraudulent Social Security claims from people over 150 years old.
“Forty percent of people calling in are committing fraud,” Vance said. “That leaves real beneficiaries stuck in line.”
Government reform will take longer than six months
Vance acknowledged that DOGE has only begun its work.
“We’ve chipped away at bureaucracy,” he said. “But fixing it will take long-term commitment, not just six months.”
Musk’s departure won’t slow the momentum. The Trump administration plans to continue its government efficiency reforms beyond his tenure.
