Kamala Harris faced backlash for her remarks about the stock market’s reaction to President Trump’s tariffs. Critics ridiculed her comments, calling them out of touch.
Harris mocks Trump’s tariffs fallout with controversial remarks
Vice President Kamala Harris made headlines on Friday after delivering gloating remarks at the Leading Women Defined Summit in Dana Point, California. She spoke about the aftermath of President Trump’s sweeping tariffs.
At the event, hosted by former BET CEO Debra Lee, Harris joked, ‘There were many things we knew would happen. I’m not here to say I told you so” as the audience applauded.
Her comment, however, sparked online ridicule from many who felt she was disconnected from the reality many Americans face.
Critics mock Harris’s tone and political track record
Critics quickly took to social media, criticizing her for “cackling” during her remarks.
One X user, Tiago Gomes, wrote: “Kamala cackling about fear while Americans are safer, borders are tighter, and prices are dropping under Trump.”
Additionally, others pointed out her 2024 loss to Trump. “Says the woman who spent $1.2B and left her campaign owing money. Sure, we will take financial advice from her,” wrote David McGraw.
Several also suggested Harris lacked the political skill needed for future success.
One person said: she just had to be noticed!!
A second wrote : The world is annoyed at the tariffs, Just means the Americans will have to pay more for what they buy. Is that a good thing
While a third commented: Takes Nothing to be a critic but When She had the chance She lied n ruined the Country’s security n economy
I think she is great, and I wish the Democratic Party would come out ridiculing this unstable Donald Duck . Someone said.
Another added: She would be better than what we have

Harris urges action and unity despite 2024 defeat
Despite the criticism, Harris urged those at the summit to stand up and fight for their beliefs. “There’s great power in this room. And yes, the world is watching,” she said.
She emphasized the importance of being kind, fierce, and united. “More importantly, there are people counting on us,” Harris added.
Additionally , Harris took the opportunity to criticize both organizations and individuals who remained silent during Trump’s early actions. She argued that too many people had “capitulated to clearly unconstitutional threats.”
Despite being mostly out of the spotlight after her election loss, Harris vowed to continue speaking out. “I’m not going anywhere,” she said.
Harris’s remarks have fueled speculation about her future in politics. Some believe she may run again, possibly for California Governor after Gavin Newsom’s term ends.
While, others point to her potential 2028 presidential run, with Democratic strategists suggesting that her significant name recognition could play a key role.
