According to Kate Winslet, the scene was shot on a section of the ship, separate from the main set.

The actors had to climb a ladder to reach it, making it inaccessible to the hair and makeup team. This led to some unexpected hurdles that many viewers 'wouldn't know' about.

She also revealed that DiCaprio faced issues with his makeup due to using a lot of fake tans and having to lie on sunbeds.

Winslet, in addition to her own makeup, had to carry DiCaprio's makeup, brushes, and sponge in her costume, taking on the role of a makeup artist in-between takes.

Despite the comedic mishaps, the scene turned out to be more rom-com than just rom - at least for the actors involved. Yet, their stellar performances made it impossible for viewers to guess the chaos behind the scenes.

Winslet concludes, "I feel very proud of the scene and the film in general. It's a film that just keeps giving. It's extraordinary how whole generations are discovering the film for the first time." However, she could do without fans asking her to 'reenact' the scene 'every time' she's on a boat, which she admits, 'does [her] head in'.
