The 29-year-old production supervisor learned that he was laid off without warning.

He had been with Tesla for five years.

As he drove to work, he received an email stating his position was eliminated due to restructuring.

In disbelief, Murillo continued to the factory in Fremont, California.

Upon arrival, he attempted to swipe his badge but was met with failure.

The security guard took his badge, and his work account was deactivated.

Murillo recounted, “I got my badge, went to the turnstile, and then it didn’t work. It turned red and started beeping.” This moment marked a shocking end to his tenure at Tesla.

“I think Tesla really taught me how to overcome challenges really quick,” he told KTVU.

His dedication helped him rise to lead production associate and then to production supervisor.

Throughout his time at Tesla, he sacrificed significantly for the company.

He even lived out of his car in the factory parking lot last year. This decision was made to avoid his 90-minute daily commute.

Muri is not the first person to face employee layoffs.

Murillo is one of approximately 14,000 employees laid off since April 2023.

This staggering number represents about 10% of Tesla’s global workforce.

CEO Elon Musk described the layoffs as a “difficult decision” amid falling sales.

Nico Murillo’s experience is a testament to the unpredictable nature of employment in today’s economy.

Additionally, the dedication and commitment to Tesla highlight the sacrifices many people make for their jobs.
