Gráinne lost entire forehead during an accident

In 2007, Gráinne was a passenger in her boyfriend’s Jeep when she placed her feet on the dashboard.

As they were driving, the vehicle hit a patch of black ice, causing it to skid out of control and crash into a wall at a speed of 120 miles per hour.

Despite the airbags deploying, the force was so strong that her feet were pushed violently toward her face.

The impact caused her knees to collide with her face, resulting in devastating injuries.

When Gráinne arrived at the hospital, the doctors had no choice but to remove her forehead entirely.

“I broke every bone in my face,” she recalled in a recent interview.

This shocking injury left her with a sunken appearance and required extensive medical attention.

In addition to multiple fractures, she suffered from a cerebrospinal fluid leak, which required treatment from a neurosurgeon.

After her initial surgeries, Gráinne faced complications that required further medical intervention.

It was not until 2009 that she received a custom-made forehead constructed from ceramic, which helped restore her appearance.

Gráinne has made significant progress with her surgeries.

However, she still faces the long-term effects of the traumatic brain injury she sustained that day.

“I often lose words in the middle of a conversation, and this can happen multiple times a day,” Gráinne explained.

She also experiences headaches when there is too much noise around her, making it difficult to concentrate.

Since the crash, Gráinne has become an advocate for road safety, particularly warning people against the dangers of resting their feet on the dashboard.

In a heartfelt Facebook post, she expressed her desire to prevent others from experiencing what she went through.

“I hope to reach as many people as possible with my message,” she said.

“The sad truth is that I know the message hasn’t reached far enough.”

Gráinne is particularly concerned about the influence of celebrities who often share images on social media with their feet up while riding in cars.

She indicated photos of well-known figures like Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, and Hailey Baldwin, who have posted similar pictures, promoting dangerous behavior to millions of followers.

“It breaks my heart to think that anyone could go through what my family and I have endured,” she stated.

“If sharing my story helps even one person, then it’s worth it.”
