In a recent story, a 50-year-old man named Aidas J. has been arrested in Spain after faking a heart attack multiple times to avoid paying his restaurant bills.

This unusual case took place in the city of Alicante, where Aidas had been dining without paying for his meals for quite some time.

Aidas, a Lithuanian national, used his acting skills to deceive the restaurant staff.

He would enjoy meals at various eateries, often indulging in dishes like seafood paella and Russian salad.

When it was time to settle the bill, he would suddenly pretend to have a medical emergency, causing the restaurant employees to panic and call for help.

The scheme began in November 2022, and over the months, Aidas managed to pull off this trick at least twenty times.

He often portrayed himself as a typical tourist, speaking several languages and wearing designer clothes.

His charm and theatrics initially fooled many restaurant workers, who rushed to assist him when he faked a heart attack.

The situation finally caught up with him during a visit to a popular restaurant called EI Buen Comer.

After enjoying a meal that cost around $36,80, Aidas attempted to leave without paying.

When the staff confronted him, he claimed he needed to get his wallet from his hotel. However, the employees grew suspicious of his story.

In a dramatic move, Aidas threw himself onto the floor, pretending to suffer from a serious health issue.

The restaurant owner, Moisés Doménech, described the scene as very theatrical.

However, the staff were not convinced this time and decided to call the police for assistance.

When the police arrived, they quickly recognized Aidas from past incidents.

They dismissed his pleas for an ambulance after confirming that he was not in any real distress.

Instead, they escorted him to the local police station, where he was taken into custody.

Surprisingly, even while being arrested, Aidas was reported to be smiling.

Local restaurant owners unite against fraudster following arrest

After this incident, Moisés Doménech took action to warn other restaurants about Aidas.

He shared a photo of the man with a nearby eateries, cautioning them about his fraudulent activities.

Local restaurant owners, tired of Aidas’s antics, have expressed their desire to file a joint complaint against him.

They are calling for a two-year prison sentence for his repeated offenses.

Aidas’s arrest also uncovered two unpaid fines, leading to his detention for an additional 42 days.

However, local legal experts pointed out that because his actions are classified as minor crimes, it may be challenging to impose a lengthy prison sentence.
