The rise and fall of Cybertruck fascination

Initially introduced by Elon Musk in 2019, the Cybertruck garnered attention for its futuristic appearance.

However, as more of these Tesla vehicles populate the streets, the initial fascination has somewhat diminished.

Promoted as a durable and bullet-proof machine, the Cybertruck faced a credibility challenge in a viral video.

The footage was shared on platforms like TikTok and YouTube by Tesla Owners Silicon Valley.

It captured a man walking on the roof of a Cybertruck featuring a grey digital camouflage design.

Surrounded by other Tesla models, the man seemed to be at a gathering of Tesla enthusiasts.

Justifying his actions, he claimed that walking on the roof was essential, citing the Cybertruck’s robust build quality.

As the Tesla owner, weighing 240 pounds, approached the windshield, a loud and alarming crunch resonated through the camera.

Despite the evident damage, the man seemed oblivious as he disembarked from the vehicle.

He proceeded to film its exterior, casually mentioning the presence of the Tesla and the US flag at the rear.

Although the man avoided addressing the incident directly in the video, the title on YouTube, ‘Cybertruck windshield breaks,’ confirmed the suspicions of viewers.

This was not the first time the Cybertruck faced public embarrassment due to damage.

Notably, Elon Musk himself encountered a similar situation in 2019 when demonstrating the car’s supposedly ‘shatterproof’ windows.

During a live presentation, one of the windows shattered unexpectedly.

Confident in the vehicle’s durability, Musk challenged Tesla’s design chief to test the glass’s strength by hurling a steel ball at it during the launch event.

To Musk’s dismay, the so-called ‘shatterproof’ glass failed the test, leading to an awkward moment for the Tesla team.

“You want a truck that’s really tough, not fake tough,” he said at the time.

“You want a truck you can take a sledgehammer to, a truck that won’t scratch, doesn’t dent.”

These incidents serve as a reminder of the importance of handling technologically advanced vehicles with care and understanding their limitations.

While the Cybertruck boasts impressive features, such as its bullet-proof design, it is crucial to respect the boundaries of these innovations.

Doing so can help avoid unforeseen consequences.
