A man reunited with his lost class ring after 47 years, thanks to a diver who found it at the ocean’s bottom.
In a remarkable story, a man named Morgan Perigo has been reunited with his class ring that he lost in the ocean nearly 47 years ago.
This touching reunion took place after a diver discovered the ring while searching the waters off Barbados.
How did the man lose his class ring?
Morgan Perigo, who graduated from McMaster University in Canada in 1965, lost his cherished ring during a family vacation in Barbados in 1977.
While enjoying a day at the beach, a large wave caused him to lose grip on the ring.
At that moment, he was focused on keeping his son safe, but unfortunately, the ring slipped from his fingers and vanished into the ocean.
For decades, Morgan thought he would never see the ring again.
It held sentimental value as a reminder of his college days and the friendships he made during that time.
A diver accidentally found it during an ocean search
Fast forward to recent months, when a diver named Alex Davis was searching the ocean floor with a metal detector.
His interest in recovering lost items was sparked by Hurricane Beryl.
The hurricane stirred up the ocean and exposed areas of the seabed that were normally covered in sand.
During his search, Alex’s metal detector began to beep, signaling that he had found something valuable.
When he unearthed the ring, he was amazed to see it was still in excellent condition.
The ring had a dark red stone and the engraving “McMaster University 1965” along with the initials “FMP.”
“So areas where it was like a beautiful sandy beach, suddenly you can see all these rocks exposed,” Davis told the outlet.
“With that sort of in mind, I was like — right, are there some areas now I want to go to where they seem like a lot of sand has been pulled out?” He recounted.

Excited by his find, Alex set out to locate the owner of the ring.
He reached out to McMaster University to see if they could help identify the person.
The university’s alumni officer, Laura Escalante, was able to match the initials on the ring to Morgan Perigo.
Once Alex had Morgan’s contact information, he reached out to share the incredible news.
Morgan was astonished to hear that his long-lost ring had been found.
He recounted how he lost it and was thrilled to learn that it had been recovered after so many years.
The return of the ring was also special.
The timing of the reunion was even more special, as it happened just a week before Morgan’s birthday.
“What a wonderful unexpected 83rd birthday present,” Perigo said.
Alex felt that the story could not get any better.
“It was like, ‘Oh my god, this story just can’t get any better,’ ” Davis said.
“Not only did we find it after 47 years at the bottom of the sea but also, I found it, you know, a week before his birthday.”
