A mom was shocked and confused when she discovered her own obituary online, leading to a wave of calls from friends.
Recently, a Nottingham mother named Faye Finaro discovered her own obituary online.
This led to a flurry of concerned calls from friends.
The 39-year-old beauty business owner was bewildered to see her name and photo featured in the obituary section of a local website.
This was especially surprising since she was very much alive.
Mom baffled after discovering her own obituary posted online despite being alive
Faye learned about the obituary when a friend reached out to check if she was okay.
The friend had seen her name listed in the Mansfield Chad’s “Legacy” section.
Faye was shocked and immediately took to social media to reassure her friends that she was indeed alive and well.
In her Facebook post, Faye explained the strange situation and how she felt about the misunderstanding.
She mentioned that she found the situation both humorous and bizarre.
She said: “I might have 30 days of flowers coming! It was a standard day in my life when I got a call from a friend asking me if I was alive.
“My friend was quite concerned. I posted it on Facebook and quite a few people commented and thought it was hilarious – my son found it really funny.”
How did it happen?
Faye suspects that the obituary was mistakenly published due to a mix-up related to a recent celebration of her business.
After receiving an award, her celebration post likely crossed paths with the obituary section on the website.
“I believe what’s happened is there must have been some crossover with the celebrations page they were doing and all the photos and captions were left in the database before they were outsourced to Legacy.”
The response from the website
After Faye reached out to the website to report the mistake, they acknowledged the error.
A spokesperson for Legacy confirmed that they were aware of the issue and were in contact with her to resolve it.
‘We are indeed aware of the issue and we are in correspondence with Ms. Finaro about the matter.’
Faye felt relieved when she learned that the obituary would be removed.
“God knows how long it was there! Anyway, it was great when they told me they’d removed it – I’m not dead anymore!” Faye concluded.
Her friends and family’s reactions
The reactions from Faye’s friends and family were mixed, with many expressing concern while others found humor in the situation.
Social media users also chimed in, sharing their own thoughts about the bizarre occurrence.
Some people advised her to be careful about sharing her story online to avoid any further complications.
Despite the initial shock, Faye took the situation in stride.
She appreciated the support from her friends and the laughs they shared over the incident.
In a follow-up post, she emphasized the importance of staying connected with loved ones, especially during unusual events like this.
That’s when you keep quiet and move to another place and start over. Lol no more drama, one user said.
Imagine the relief when grief has set in over a loved one’s demise only to find out that they are alive and okay, the second user said.
Faye Finaro, hope it’s good publicity and very glad your still will us xx, one of Faye’s family wrote.
You would be amazed how many people would ring somebody’s phone just to see if they’ve have actually died, someone said.
