Unlike some fortunate offices that receive a daily fresh milk delivery, it seems this workplace doesn't have one.

As a result, the man took drastic action, not only purchasing his own milk but also safeguarding it with a custom-designed locking device.

Shared by @Vented55 on Reddit, the image quickly went viral on social media.

Some users expressed agreement with the act, while others found the method of protecting the milk bottle petty.

The image was posted with the caption: "Peak pettiness or justifiable security in the office kitchen?"

In the picture, one worker has purchased a specially adapted lock that has been placed on the neck and lid of the bottle, and it is seen in the fridge.

In order to secure it, a U-shaped bar is cleverly positioned between and underneath the milk bottle's handle. This prevents someone from drinking milk if they are not allowed to. The image has attracted significant attention, garnering over 8,000 votes and 1,300 comments on Reddit.

Social media users sparked a furious online debate over whether the act is petty or justified. Meanwhile, some defended the move, asserting that it was not petty and that they saw valid reasons behind taking such measures, while other users supposed that this action is indeed petty.

One person wrote: I remember someone doing this at my work, used to think to myself how dairy!

And another chimed in saying: I lived in shared housing and their was this guy who kept taking everyone's stuff. He thought everyone should share... I would and do the same to keep others from taking what doesn't belong to them.

One more person wrote: In all fairness I can get that I used to go to my work and leave things in the staff fridge label it as mine and people would still take my drinks my food everything so I get why he’s doing that really and products aren’t cheap right now

Another person agreed: I would eventually have to do the same if it happened regularly, there's nothing worse than going to the fridge to get something that's yours & it's gone. Grrrr

Another person added: My husband brought his lunch everyday labeled with his name. Somebody repeatedly took his afternoon treat out of the sack. No one would admit to taking it.He made brownies one day laced with ex lax. That was the last time anyone touched his lunch again. And it became obvious that afternoon who the thief was by the bathroom trips one of his coworkers took.

I once bought a large jar of coffee. When I went to get a cup at lunch time the whole jar was empty. I stood in the middle of the office and said. That jar was full this morning and I never even got one cup. If that was bad enough, I caught others going through my desk drawers looking to see where I had hidden the stuff after that. One person comment.

And another Reddit user chimed in saying: I used to bring in lactose free milk and put it in the fridge at work with my name on it. Within a day it was finished because people took it without even asking. This kept on happening. No one respected it So one morning when we were in the kitchen and many other employees were there, I told them to not touch my milk and I drank from the bottle and spat right back into it. I know not mature but it’s my own spit so I don’t care and it’s myyyy milk. I got called into my boss’ office because the other employees were offended I spat in the milk they drink
