Gen Z sparked debate by suggesting that one's choice of socks reveals their age.

Many believed that selecting socks was simply a matter of harmless personal preference, with no right or wrong choice; individuals could freely choose their favorite socks.

However, according to TikToker, your choice of socks might actually reveal your age group.

A video posted by French TikToker Lili Debois sparked the debate. In the seven-second clip, Debois is seen at the gym wearing ankle socks, with the caption reading, "Apparently only millennials wear ankle socks?"

Additionally, another Gen Z, who goes by @yumihinnenkamp, also sparked debate after saying she removed the ankle socks to keep up with Gen Z generation.

The video has the caption: "Retiring the ankle socks to keep up with Gen Z." She added that she would 'miss' the shorter socks.

The differences between Gen Z and Millennials about wearing sock habits.

Millennials, it seems, prefer ankle socks, while Gen Z opts for longer crew socks that reach mid-calf.

On social media, Gen Z opinions about socks have sparked debate.

In the comment selection, many expressed their unwavering loyalty to what they see as Millennial fashion trends.

However, it seems there's a reason for Millennials' aversion to longer socks.

While others admitted that  they simply wear 'whatever two socks come out of the drawer.'

They believe that personal comfort trumps generational trends.

One person said:  As a millennial, I've never been a fan of ankle socks. I have always stuck with sports socks. My parents in their sixties wear ankle socks so maybe they have a point lol

A second wrote: As you get older comfort is the best option

While a third comment:  I'm just happy that people are still wearing socks with their foot wear.

Another added: That explains why my almost 10yr old son has his socks pulled right up almost below his knees! There was me telling him they looked silly! Jokes on me now I guess!

Someone else said: Gen z must be gen x throwbacks. This is what we were wearing in the 80s before slouch socks. It took me ages to get used to shorter socks, now all the crews in my cupboard can come out again!

Gen X reveals that we don’t GAFF what Gen Z thinks and they should sit down before we stop paying their cell phone bills & rent. Another added.
