He experienced a cardiac arrest after drinking “two to three cans” of energy drinks daily.

In January, Aaron reported feeling unwell, with symptoms including a racing heart and numbness in his extremities. The emergency unfolded soon after.

He collapsed shortly after arriving at the hospital, leading to immediate life-saving efforts by medical staff.

Doctors performed chest compressions to revive Aaron, resulting in broken ribs, according to Meagan.

Aaron spent five to six weeks in the hospital under close observation by cardiologists.

The medical team concluded that the cardiac arrest was caused by dehydration exacerbated by his high intake of energy drinks.

Energy drinks and health risks

Energy drinks, such as Red Bull, are known for their high caffeine content, which can impact heart health.

While a typical cup of coffee contains around 100 mg of caffeine, a can of Red Bull has 80 mg.

The larger doses of caffeine found in some energy drinks, combined with other stimulants like taurine.can lead to increased heart rate and blood pressure.

For individuals with certain heart conditions, like long QT syndrome, even small amounts of caffeine can be dangerous.

In the footage, Meagan Shreve warned about the dangers of energy drinks. Additionally, she noted that the consumption of these beverages can aggravate underlying health issues.

Meagan said: ‘This can be extremely, extremely dangerous…I watched this 105 pound [47 kilograms] woman drag my husband out of a chair and start chest compressions so hard that she broke his ribs.’

Studies have shown a correlation between energy drink consumption and heart problems, including irregular heartbeats and cardiac arrest.

Research from the Mayo Clinic highlighted that out of 144 cardiac arrests studied, seven patients had consumed energy drinks shortly before their incidents.

Expert recommendations

Health experts recommend limiting caffeine intake to 400 mg per day for adults, according to the Food Standards Agency.

However, individuals with rare heart conditions such as long QT syndrome may be particularly vulnerable to even low doses of caffeine.

The potential for adverse effects underscores the importance of moderation and awareness regarding energy drink consumption.

While energy drinks are popular for their stimulating effects, they carry significant health risks that should not be overlooked.

So, Shreve’s story aims to raise awareness and prevent others from experiencing similar health crises.
