Olympic champion Imane Khelif has filed a lawsuit against a report that was leaked, falsely claiming that she is a biological man.
Olympic champion Imane Khelif sparked debate over her true gender
Imane Khelif, the Olympic boxing champion, is in the news again after a leaked report claimed she is a biological male.
This led to heated calls for Khelif to be stripped of her Olympic gold medal.
Therefore, Khelif to take legal action against those responsible for the allegations.
Khelif won a gold medal at the Paris Olympics, where she competed in the women’s boxing category.
However, her participation has been surrounded by controversy since the beginning.
Critics questioned her gender after she and Lin Yu-ting competed despite failing gender eligibility tests at the world championships.
New leaked report accused Khelif of being a biological male
The recent report, which became public, claims to provide evidence that Khelif is not biologically female.
The backlash has caused some to call for stripping her of the gold medal she earned at the Olympics.
A team of endocrinologists from France and Algeria allegedly prepared the report.
However, the authenticity of this report remains unclear, and Khelif has strongly denied its claims.
Jacques Young, a doctor who is said to have co-authored the report, recently spoke out.
He stated that his name was being misused and that the findings were misleading.
This statement adds to the confusion surrounding the document and its intentions.
The Olympic champion affirmed she was born “a woman”
Khelif has maintained that she is a woman and has spoken out passionately against the allegations.
After her victory in Paris, she expressed her frustration with the constant scrutiny regarding her gender.
In her own words, she stated that she was “born a woman” and has lived her life as a woman.
She feels that these attacks on her identity are attempts to undermine her success.
“As for whether I qualify or not, whether I am a woman or not, I have made many statements in the media.
“I am fully qualified to take part in this competition. I’m a woman like any other woman.
I was born a woman, I lived as a woman, and I competed as a woman, there’s no doubt about that.
“[The critics] are enemies of success, that is what I call them. And that also gives my success a special taste because of these attacks, Khelif said.”
The Algerian Olympic Committee said: ‘These attacks, often based on unsubstantiated allegations, aim to tarnish the image of an athlete who has brought honor to our nation on the international stage.
‘We firmly condemn these attempts at destabilization, which have no place in the world of sports.’
The public figures weighed on the debate of Imane Khelif’s true gender
The controversy has caught the attention of many, including public figures and sports commentators.
Piers Morgan has demanded that they revoke Khelif’s gold medal if the claims prove true.
He argues that it is unfair for someone who is not a biological female to compete in women’s events.
“Confirmation of what some of us said at the time: Khelif is a biological man.
They should now strip the gold medal and award it to the best actual woman.”
Tennis legend Martina Navratilova also supported stripping Khelif of her medal.
She advocates for fairness in women’s sports and takes biological differences into account.
Sports presenter Laura Woods has shared her views on Khelif’s inclusion and the transgender debate.
‘Transgender people SHOULD absolutely have a place in sport, but NOT at the expense of safety or fairness for women,’ she tweeted.
“And it is not up to women to find that solution. These categories should be protected.
“Fairness and safety MUST be the MOST important factors in sport.
“At ALL levels. Including and especially grass routes. This can not keep happening,” Wood added.
The Algerian boxer Imane Khelif filed a lawsuit against this false report
In response to the backlash, Khelif’s legal team has filed a lawsuit against those who have spread these allegations.
They argue that the claims are baseless and damaging to Khelif’s reputation.

While no specific individuals are named as defendants, several well-known celebrities are mentioned for their social media posts.
