Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, later issued an official response via a tweet from its head of communications, Andy Stone, saying: 'We're aware that people are having trouble accessing our services. We are working on resolving this issue.".

On Twitter, @whatdope left several users shocked after revealing an estimated loss for the company per minute during the 2021 outage.

The post read: “Last year’s ad revenue (for Facebook’s sites) was $84.2bn. So, for every minute it’s down, they’re losing around $160,000. Or, $2,670 per second".

As a result, numerous users suggest that Meta has incurred significant financial losses following this incident."

According to reports, the outage in October 2021, which affected Facebook and WhatsApp and took users around the world by surprise, resulted in a substantial cost for the company. Fortune estimated that the brief six-hour outage amounted to a loss of $100 million in revenue.
