Selena Gomez faced backlash after sharing a tearful video about Donald Trump’s immigration policies. A Senate candidate even suggested she should be deported. Now, Gomez has fired back with a pointed response.
Selena Gomez breaks down over Trump’s immigration policies
Selena Gomez recently posted an emotional video reacting to President Trump’s latest immigration policies. The singer, who is of Mexican-American heritage, expressed her heartbreak over the situation.
In the now-deleted video, Gomez struggled to hold back tears. She said, “I’m so sorry. All my people are getting attacked. The children, I don’t understand. I wish I could do something.”
Trump recently declared a national emergency and deployed thousands of troops to the U.S.-Mexico border. He also halted refugee admissions and attempted to revoke birthright citizenship. His orders included mass deportations of undocumented immigrants.
Senate candidate calls for Selena Gomez to be deported
After Gomez’s video went viral, Senate candidate Sam Parker weighed in with a controversial comment.
“Selena Gomez picked illegals over America b/c she’s the 3rd gen descendant of Mexican illegals who received citizenship in the ’87 Amnesty,” Parker wrote on Twitter.
He continued, “She has an entitlement attitude toward America, like her illegal g’parents. Maybe Selena should be deported, too?”
Selena Gomez claps back at the controversial comment
Gomez did not stay silent. She quickly responded to Parker’s statement in a post on her Instagram Story.
“Oh Mr. Parker Mr. Parker. Thanks for the laugh and the threat,” she wrote.
Parker seemed amused by the exchange. He later posted a screenshot of Gomez’s response and added, “Selena Gomez has responded to me. Lol.”
Border czar warns that all undocumented immigrants could face deportation
Meanwhile, Trump’s immigration policies continue to make headlines. Border czar Tom Homan issued a warning to undocumented immigrants in the U.S.
Speaking to ABC News, Homan stated, “If you’re in the country illegally, you’re on the table, because it’s not OK to, you know, violate the laws of this country.”
He explained that under U.S. law, crossing the border illegally is a crime. He added, “So, if you’re in the country illegally, you got a problem. And that’s why I’m hoping those who are in the country illegally, who have not been ordered removed by the federal judge, should leave.”
Selena Gomez’s emotional reaction to Trump’s immigration orders sparked controversy.
Senate candidate Sam Parker’s remark about deporting her drew criticism, but Gomez responded with confidence. As debates over immigration policies continue, the conversation around this issue remains intense.
