Snoop Dogg recently found himself in the middle of controversy after performing at Donald Trump’s Crypto Ball.

His decision to perform at the event on January 17 drew backlash from some of his fans. They criticized the rapper for his apparent change of heart towards the president, as Snoop had previously been outspoken against Trump.

Snoop Dogg’s previous Stance on Donald Trump

In 2017, when Trump first took office, Snoop Dogg made it clear he had no intention of supporting the new president. He even stated that he would “roast the f**k” out of anyone who performed at Trump’s inauguration.

One critic described the performance as “culturally embarrassing and disrespectful asf.” Another suggested that Snoop did not need the money and could have turned down the offer.

Snoop Dogg responds to criticism

In a video shared on Instagram, Snoop Dogg addressed the backlash. He responded with a message of love, saying, “For all the hate, I’m going to answer with love.”

He assured fans that he was still “Get your life right, stop worrying about mine. I’m cool. I’m together. Still a Black man. Still 100 percent Black. All out ’til you ball out or ’til you fall out.”

He continued further on in the clip: “We gotta learn to pick each other up instead of pulling each other down. That’s what we great at as Black people. We great at tearing each other down.”

“You can be up one minute and they’ll try to pull you down the next,” Snoop added.

“But I’m a strong Black man. I’m cut from a different cloth. You can’t tear me down. I’m one of God’s [children].”

He continued, emphasizing the importance of uplifting one another: “We gotta learn to pick each other up instead of pulling each other down.” Snoop also acknowledged the challenges of being in the public eye, stating that people would always try to tear you down, but he remains resilient. “I’m a strong Black man. You can’t tear me down.”

Fans continue to react to Snoop Dogg’s response

Despite Snoop Dogg’s explanation, some fans remained disappointed. One wrote, “Snoop you disappointed us. We been riding with you since we were kids. This one hurts for real.” Another echoed the sentiment, saying, “ZERO HATE JUST DISAPPOINTED.”
