An swimmer is being sent home after rule violation.
In the shock incident, Ana Carolina Vieira, along with her boyfriend and fellow swimmer Gabriel Santos, left the Olympic Village without permission to visit the Eiffel Tower.
Previously, she competed in the 4×100-meter freestyle relay on July 27, where the Brazilian team finished 12th.
Initially, the couple received a warning, but the situation worsened when her actions were revealed.
They faced disciplinary action after leaving the athletes’ village without permission. She spent a night in Paris with her boyfriend, fellow swimmer Gabriel Santos.
The couple had gone out in Paris to see the sights. Their unauthorized outing was eventually discovered.
She responds to the incident on social media
They speaks out after a rule violation and being sent home, then took to Instagram to address the situation.
The video has the caption: “How a communication failure destroyed my Olympic dream. Discipline, determination, and education are my pillars as a high performance athlete.”
In her video, she expressed her disappointment and sadness over the incident. Then, she said the issue being sent home after rule violation that destroyed her Olympic dream.
Additionally, she emphasized her dedication to the sport and her respect for hierarchy.
Swimmer added: “I’m as well as I can be right now, because what’s happening to me right now is really sad, but everything is going to be resolved at the right moment. I live for the sport, I’m a high performance athlete so it’s a very delicate moment for me.”
Previously, Vieira also garnered attention with an emotional message.
Olympian stated, “I’ve been getting lots of bad messages but mostly good messages from people that support me – I’m OK, I’m well.”
“I’m as well as I can be right now because what’s happening to me is really sad, but everything is going to be resolved at the right moment.’
She added: “I’m very sad of the way I got (kicked) out of the Olympic games. I was going to swim another time. But I’m going to continue to support the Brazilian team that’s competing.”

However, some also criticized her after she shared her emotional experience of being sent home.
One person said: She had one event that she competed in and didn’t progress to the next round. Her Olympics had already ended at the time of the incident. Nobody destroyed her Olympic dreams.

Previously, Vieira revealed plans to take legal action after her rule violation and being sent home.
In a prior video posted on 29 July, Vieira appeared tearful and distraught as she explained her side of the story.
Additionally, she recounted the confusion and helplessness she felt, having left her belongings at the Olympic Village.
Then, she said: “I left there and left my materials. I didn’t know what to do. My things are there [in the Olympic Village]. I went to the airport in shorts.
“I had to open my suitcase at the airport. I’m in Portugal. I am helpless,”
Vieira mentioned that she had filed a complaint of harassment within the team and plans to take legal action upon her return to Brazil.
“I will speak to my lawyers. I promise to tell everything. I am sad, nervous, but with peace of mind because I know who I am.” She added.
COB’s Statement after the incident
The Brazilian Olympic Committee issued a statement regarding the incident. Then, they explained their decision to punish the two athletes.
Additionally, they cited acts of indiscipline and a disrespectful and aggressive response from Vieira as reasons for her removal from the delegation.
