A crocodile, believed to be docile, attacked an elderly man. The predator dragged him into the water, leaving him severely injured.

The incident occurred on February 17 at Cimory Dairyland in Indonesia.
Visitors had gathered around the crocodile, which rescuers had recently rescued from a flood.
Theme park staff assumed the reptile was harmless. This belief led them to allow visitors to approach the animal and offer food.
A video captured the chilling moment. Tourists stood near the crocodile with outstretched arms.
The elderly man, seen in the top right of the footage, placed something near its mouth.
The crocodile suddenly lashed out
The moment the man placed food in the water, the crocodile reacted violently. It bit him and dragged him into the water.
Witnesses screamed as the predator thrashed around with the man in its grip. The scene quickly turned into chaos.
A witness, Siti Aisyah, recounted the incident, stating, “The grandfather was bitten by a crocodile as he attempted to feed it. As a result, residents quickly stepped in to evacuate him. Meanwhile, he was rushed to the hospital since his hand was severely injured.”
Rescue efforts and medical response
Authorities arrived at the scene shortly after the attack. Fire department chief Hasanuddin confirmed that by the time emergency teams arrived, residents had already assisted the victim.
“The evacuation process was quick,” he said. The man was transported to a local hospital for treatment on his severe arm injury.

Someone had rescued the crocodile from flooding
The crocodile had been found just days earlier in a flooded residential area.
Wildlife workers moved it to the theme park, hoping visitors would bring donations.
Authorities believe there could be more crocodiles nearby. Additionally, Hasanuddin explained, ‘Someone informed us that they had previously seen this crocodile near a landfill.. It had laid eggs on land. If there is a female crocodile, a male is likely lurking nearby.”
Wildlife workers have since removed the crocodile from the theme park.
Crocodile attacks are common in Indonesia
Indonesia records more crocodile attacks than any other country. The region is home to 14 crocodile species. Overfishing has forced them inland, increasing human encounters.
In January 2025, tragedy struck when a five-year-old girl lost her life to a crocodile while bathing with her parents.
Similarly, earlier this month, a crocodile fatally attacked a 64-year-old woman while she was washing clothes in a river, highlighting the ongoing dangers posed by these predators.
Tragically, the same crocodile later killed her son while he was searching for her remains.
