Tattoo Artist Criticized for “Ruined” Back Tattoo
A tattoo artist has defended himself after a video posted online of a back tattoo he inked sparked controversy.
Of course, tattoos are not cheap – you can get a small one for around £40-£60, but if you want a larger piece, be prepared to pay hundreds.
However, many people believe that Mykhailo, a 21-year-old from Berlin, has set his prices too high, especially since some have criticized his designs.
Controversial Tattoo Costs 900 Euros
Mykhailo often shares his favorite designs on TikTok and has gained nearly 40,000 followers. Many people praise his unique abstract, scribble-like style, but some struggle to understand it, especially given the high price.
In his video, he showcases a freshly inked tattoo on a man’s back. The on-screen caption states that the customer paid 900 euros (£769) for the artwork.
The design includes two long shapes that resemble flowers emerging from a scribbled section, with disconnected lines around them. Finally, the camera focuses on the completed tattoo, revealing its distinct and unconventional appearance.
Mixed Reactions from the Online Community
While the high price alone is enough to spark debate, many have also criticized Mykhailo’s design.
One TikTok user commented: “I could have done that for a fiver.”Another joked: “Looks like my finals graph when I forgot to bring a ruler.”
Some even accused Mykhailo of taking advantage of customers:“This is laziness, exploiting people, and stealing their hard-earned money!”
However, not all feedback was negative. One person said: “Looks sick, but I’m not sure I’d get one myself (maybe a smaller version).”
Speaking to Insider, Mykhailo said the tattoo was inspired by the concepts of “freedom” and “beauty,” and that he designed it in collaboration with the customer. He also clarified that the actual price ranged from 700 to 800 euros, and he had exaggerated the cost on TikTok to create a viral effect.
