Mukaab – The $50 Billion Cube Set to Become the Largest Structure in the World
On this vast planet, humans sometimes feel like tiny specks. This feeling becomes even more real as more and more mega-structures rise around the world. Among them, one of the most outstanding is Mukaab — a $50 billion cube currently under construction in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
Mukaab is part of the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030 project, located in the New Murabba district. The structure will stand 400 meters tall and 400 meters wide — large enough to fit 20 Empire State Buildings inside. Its design is inspired by Riyadh’s traditional Murabba Palace but developed on a much larger and more modern scale.
Enormous Spaces Above and Underground
Not only does Mukaab tower above the city, but it also features a massive underground complex. Beneath the building will be a retail space equivalent to today’s Dubai Mall, with potential for further expansion.
Inside Mukaab, there will be a giant dome covering 360,000 square meters and a central tower — described as a vertical structure equivalent in size to the Eiffel Tower, fully inhabitable. This lower tower is expected to provide accommodation for around 27,000 people and will feature the world’s largest rooftop spanning an impressive 16 hectares.
Moreover, stepping inside Mukaab will offer residents and visitors an extraordinary experience. With advanced technology and changing virtual environments, people will feel as if they’ve entered an entirely different world.
The Ambitious Future of New Murabba
Mukaab is just a part of the larger New Murabba project. Once all three development phases are completed, the area is expected to house around 400,000 residents and attract tens of millions of tourists every year.
The exterior of Mukaab will feature a Najdi-style facade that honors the rich cultural architecture of Saudi Arabia.
This project not only aims to position Riyadh as a global landmark but is also expected to generate substantial revenue for the country’s economy, supporting the ambitious Saudi Vision 2030.
