A customer using Uber Eats received an empty burger box from McDonald's.
The incident was attributed to a glitch in the Uber Eats app, which resulted in the deselection of every ingredient in the customer's order, causing them to be angry and hungry.
Uber East customer gets furious after receiving empty burger box from McDonald's.
The person who ordered a Double Big Mac from McDonald's through Uber Eats was very surprised and confused when they opened the burger box and saw that it was empty.
Feeling upset, the customer went on Facebook to tell others about her situation and explain the app's mistake that caused her disappointment.
She shared a picture of the receipt, which revealed that all eight parts of the Double Big Mac, like the meat and bun, were accidentally removed from the order.
Because of this error, the McDonald's workers packed an empty box, and the customer didn't receive her meal.
Online users also shared their similar experiences when ordering food at McDonald's.
Some people on social media mentioned that there should have been at least one patty in the box because the instructions only removed one.
However, it was that the error affected the entire order, not just one item.
One possible explanation would be that diabetes consultants have recently been employed there, one user said.
The food has gotten so terrible there. It is terrible & they don't have enough workers so you have to pull into a parking space and wait for someone to bring it out when it is done. Quality is terrible, the second user complained.
My son went to McDonald's to pick up 2 burgers on the way home. He found they had only given him one. We live over the road. So he went back and. they gave him the missing one, another shared.
Surely the person packing this should have queried it? Nobody would pay for an empty cardboard package, someone wrote.
This is not the first time such incidents have happened, where customers received empty boxes or incomplete orders because of app glitches or technical errors.
Another incident where a pregnant customer received an empty wrapper with a note attached. The note explained that the item she wanted had been deselected.
While the customer's boyfriend found the situation amusing, it left the pregnant woman feeling unsatisfied and disappointed.
In March, something similar happened with Uber Eats and a McDonald's order in Sydney's lower North Shore.
A group of ten-year-old boys who were having a sleepover after their rugby league game received empty boxes due to another glitch.
According to the receipt, a triple cheeseburger was ordered, but all the items were accidentally removed, leaving an empty box.
Similarly, a double cheeseburger with bacon only had bacon inside because the other ingredients were deselected too.
Lorraine, one of the customers, immediately contacted Uber Eats to address the issue.
However, she was requested by McDonald's a picture of the missing items, as it was impossible to provide a picture of something that never arrived.
Fortunately, after sending a picture of the receipt, Uber refunded her money.
Lorraine was frustrated and couldn't understand why the staff would pack an empty box and still charge the full price.
She acknowledged that there might be app issues or mistakes, but it seemed unreasonable to her that they would deliver an empty box without adjusting the cost.
