At the Olympic Games, Jordan Chiles has been ordered to return her bronze medal from the women’s floor exercise final.

After Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu’s successful appeal, USA star Jordan Chiles is required to return her medal.

This decision follows a ruling by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) that led to the reallocation of the medal to Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu.

IOC has confirmed it will award Jordan Chile’s bronze medal to Romanian gymnast Ana Barbosu

On Sunday, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) confirmed it would reassign the bronze medal from last Monday’s floor final. Ana Barbosu will be the recipient of the newly awarded bronze.

This decision came after CAS invalidated an appeal made by Chile’s coach, Cecile Landi, concerning the scoring of Chile’s routine.

The CAS determined that Landi’s appeal for an additional 0.1 points for Chile was submitted 1 minute and 4 seconds after the original score was posted.

This timing exceeded the 1-minute window allowed by the International Gymnastics Federation (FIG).

As a result, the appeal was deemed invalid. Consequently, the initial scoring and rankings were upheld.

Consequently, CAS ruled that the initial rankings should be restored, placing Barbosu in third place. And, Sabrina Maneca-Voinea is in fourth, and Chile is in fifth.

IOC and FIG respond to the incident.
