Balloons are a source of cheer for children. They are not only used as decorations at children's parties or weddings but also instantly infuse an air of fun into any space.

Many colors are available, allowing us to pick the one that best suits the occasion. We often inflate them without a second thought, right out of the package.

However, a recent revelation by one mother has left viewers astonished and prompted them to reconsider the importance of washing these products before bringing them near their faces.

Danielle Beardon, a proud "mumfluencer" known for sharing outfits and advice with her 80,000 TikTok followers, shared a shocking video revealing why you should ALWAYS wash balloons before blowing them up.

In her video, an assortment of pink, white, and shiny purple balloons is immersed in a tub filled with soapy water, creating a foamy concoction.

With a gentle motion, Danielle moves the balloons aside, unveiling the true color of the water beneath. To put it mildly, the water bears a resemblance to the hue your bathwater takes on after a long day at work.

In her video, she explained why you should ALWAYS wash balloons before blowing them up, stating: 'This is your sign to wash your balloons before you put them in your mouth to blow them up.'

As she showcased a tub filled with pastel balloons undergoing the cleaning process, she drew attention to the transformation of the water from its original state to a repulsive, murky gray color.

The video showed that accumulated dirt had been residing on the plastic. If you blow it, it's clear that all the dirt on the balloons will go into your body.

In the caption of her post, an incredulous Danielle expressed her amazement at her own discovery: "There's no way."

Nevertheless, not all viewers shared her level of concern regarding the cleanliness of balloons.

The internet's response appeared to be somewhat divided on this matter, with some individuals expressing reservations about washing off talcum powder (commonly used to prevent balloons from sticking together), while others believed that balloons are not dirty, as she shared.

One person said: We grew up not washing any of these things people are only now pointing out and haven't died from some terrible disease.

A second wrote: but all the dirty water is going in the balloon surely

A third commented: Literally blew Ballon up today for my son's birthday and the smell they had was just the strangest thing.

Another said: You’re hating for what? Because I’m shocked that the balloons are that filthy. The only reason I washed them was because they didn’t smell very nice

Someone else said: But you're washing off the powder that allows friction and them to blow up without popping.

You can buy things to blow it up for you uno. Who has time to wash balloons? Another added.

Another continued: Some people put way worse in their mouths without knowing if it’s washed.

So, as wisely suggested, we should use a pump to inflate balloons instead of our mouths, as it's a safer option for you
