A woman married her boyfriend who forgot their break-up after a head injury, leading to a surprising reunion months later.
The couple’s break-up and an unexpected reunion
A woman named Jenna shared her story of how a head injury brought her and her ex-boyfriend Mitchell back together.
In February 2020, Jenna decided to break up with Mitchell due to feeling “too overwhelmed by life.”
The very next day, Mitchell, 22, went skiing at Beaver Mountain, Utah, and attempted a jump on an icy slope.
He landed on his head, blacked out, and sustained a severe concussion.

The boyfriend lost his memory and the woman’s initial confusion
When Mitchell woke up, he had no memory of the break-up.
He called Jenna, asking her to pick him up. Jenna recalled being puzzled when Mitchell kept texting her and asking to hang out.
She said: “Mitch kept messaging me and trying to hang out after his concussion and I was confused as to why he would keep messaging me because we had broken up.
“I thought that maybe he took the statement of staying friends really seriously.
It even was to the point when I told him that my roommates and I had a hard day and he came and brought us ice cream.”
Despite her confusion, Jenna noted how Mitchell showed kindness, like bringing her and her roommates ice cream when they had a hard day.
Realizing she regretted the break-up, Jenna nervously asked Mitchell if they could start dating again.
To her surprise, it was then revealed that Mitchell had no memory of their break-up at all.
“He told me he didn’t remember any of that except for chatting in the car,” she continued.
“But he didn’t remember what we chatted about.
Jenna explained that she told Mitchell about the break-up conversation that happened in her car.
However, Mitchell said he only remembered chatting with her but not the content of their discussion.
Thankfully, he found it “super funny” that he had no recollection, which relieved Jenna.
She said, “It made it easy to get back together because to him, we never weren’t together!”
Woman ultimately married boyfriend who forgot their break-up after suffering head injury months earlier
Five months after reconciling, the couple got engaged and married in September 2020.
Reflecting on their unique love story, Jenna shared, “During my husband’s speech, he brought up not remembering the break-up but how he is so grateful that it all worked out in the end.”
Now both 27, the couple delights in sharing their story, feeling that “invisible strings” always tied them together.
