In December 2024, Jeniffer was on a 50-minute flight from Rio de Janeiro to Belo Horizonte. She had booked her window seat in advance.

During the flight, a child started crying. Another passenger filmed Jeniffer, trying to shame her for not giving up her seat.

The video quickly spread online. Many people debated whether it was right to film others in public.

The video had a huge impact on Jeniffer’s life. She has stated that this situation changed everything for her.

“Professionally, my life has changed a lot, so much so that today I am no longer in the field I worked in before. I was a banker.

“In my personal life, at the height of the repercussions, I practically didn’t leave the house.”

“What should have been just an ordinary flight turned into an extremely embarrassing situation, exposing me unfairly and causing consequences that affected both my personal and professional life,” Castro explained.

“I was the target of judgments, attacks and speculation from people who don’t even know the full story.”

The woman transitioned from banking to becoming an influencer

Despite the negativity, Jeniffer has found a way to adapt. She now has over two million followers on Instagram.

She is trying to make a career as an online influencer. However, she did not plan for this change.

“What should have been just an ordinary flight turned into an extremely embarrassing situation,” she said.

Jeniffer expressed that while she is gaining followers, it is not what she truly wanted. She feels that the incident unfairly exposed her and affected her life deeply.

Legal action against the airline

Jeniffer is now suing the airline, GOL. She believes that the airline is partly responsible for what happened.

“I decided to sue the airline because what happened to me was a huge embarrassment, and this situation should never have reached this point,” she said.

“This lawsuit is not just about reparations but also about setting a limit on this type of behavior,” she said.

Jeniffer wants to hold the airline accountable for the embarrassment she experienced.

She clarified that the person filming her was not the child’s mother, as many assumed. Instead, it was another passenger who violated her privacy.

Public reactions and discussions

The incident sparked a larger conversation about airplane etiquette. Many people shared their opinions on social media.

Some supported Jeniffer, saying everyone has a right to their seat. Others felt she should have given up her seat for the child.

One user said: This is ridiculous. Why should she give up her seat. She shouldn’t be made to feel bad for sitting in her own seat that she paid for.

Maybe the parent should have paid and bought a window seat for her child. Why are so many people entitled these days

The second user wrote: I don’t understand this I have children and would never expect anyone to give up their seat for them, if you want a specific seat then pre book and pay.

The third user commented: She bought her seat. I wouldn’t give up my seat if I paid for it end of. Parents should plan better – blame the parents

The fourth user added: That is lame, why would people toment her she did what was right, some of this bratty entitled children are too much

Another user wrote: No one should be shamed into giving up a previously booked seat, even for a baby. That mother should have planned ahead just as this lady did.
