Ceo jerry murrell explains five guys’ pricing strategy

Five Guys CEO Jerry Murrell has defended the chain’s pricing. He attributes the costs to the brand’s focus on quality ingredients.

“Our food prices fluctuate,” Murrell told Inc Magazine. “We do not base our prices on anything but margins.”

Murrell explained that their pricing reflects real-time food costs. “If the mayonnaise supplier triples their price, we pay triple. Then, we increase the price of our product.”

Murrell’s pricing strategy hasn’t slowed growth, despite customer complaints. He believes customers pay for quality, not just affordability. “From the beginning, I wanted people to know we put all our money into food,” he stated.
