This remarkable find has captured the attention of locals and news outlets.

Magnet fishing involves using a strong magnet attached to a rope to search bodies of water for metal objects.

According to a report, a couple from Queens managed to retrieve a safe containing $100,000 in cash while magnet fishing in Corona Park.

James Kane and Barbie Agostini cast a line with a powerful magnet attached to the water and felt something heavy.

They pulled up an old safe, which they were able to open, but the water had damaged the contents. Instead, they found two large stacks of hundred-dollar bills.

After the pulling, the couple successfully opened the safe, uncovering a sizable sum of money wrapped in plastic.

However, the stacks of hundred-dollar bills had suffered water damage, making them unusable.

The couple was allowed to receive the intact cash after contacting to authorities.

James and Barbie immediately contacted the New York Police Department (NYPD) to inform them about their discovery.

After evaluating the circumstances, the NYPD concluded that it was impossible to determine the rightful owner of the safe, suggesting that it had been stolen.

As a result, James and Barbie were permitted to retain the money they had stumbled upon

This is not the first time the couple stumbled upon unexpected objects during their exploration.

They have discovered various items in their adventures, including a World War II-era grenade retrieved from Sheepshead Bay in Brooklyn and several historic guns in Flushing Meadows.

Magnet fishing has become a passion for James and Barbie, particularly during the pandemic when they sought outdoor activities to keep themselves entertained.

Previously, a man in the US had an astonishing discovery when he purchased a second-hand suitcase from a thrift store.

He shared his unexpected joy on social media after finding a "treasure" inside the suitcase. Upon opening it, he noticed something floating in the inner lining.

He was taken aback when he discovered a stack of fresh cash securely stored in a ziplock bag. Excitedly, he counted the money and confirmed that there were more than 20,000 Bangladeshi takas in the bag.

Although the amount wasn't significant, he still found it fascinating.

He speculated that the previous owner of the suitcase might have hidden their own money and forgotten to check for the remaining items before selling it to the thrift store.
