However, a surprising and creepy find left them shaken.
A couple has an unexpected find in their house.
A user, who known as /u/kylemacabre, had a horrible experience on Reddit. The post has the caption: “Place we moved into has Barbarian level bomb shelter in backyard”
“The place we moved into has a bomb shelter in the backyard that we were afraid to go down into cuz, you know, that Barbarian movie. We finally got the nerve up and went down. Alas, there were no chains hanging from the ceiling. It’s definitely gonna get nicknamed The Sex Dungeon anyway.”
After purchasing the house, Kyle discovered a disturbing bomb shelter. He compared it to settings from horror movies.
He described it as reminiscent of the monster’s lair in Barbarian or Buffalo Bill’s basement in Silence of the Lambs. He specifically noted the scene with a rotting corpse in the bathtub
Initial reactions and concerns
Kyle and his wife were immediately unnerved by the sight of the shelter and chose to avoid exploring it initially.
“When they finally mustered the courage to investigate, they found no gruesome surprises. However, they remained apprehensive about the shelter’s condition.
Despite fears of encountering a dilapidated or hazardous space.
“I didn’t go down that day, as you can imagine,” he wrote on Reddit. “We were afraid to go down. We finally got the nerve up and went down. Alas, there were no chains hanging from the ceiling.”
Kyle was relieved to find the shelter in relatively good shape.
The space, constructed in the 1980s, featured a large room, a shower, and a toilet. While it was somewhat creepy, it was free from dangerous insects or structural decay.
“All in all, my biggest concern was the state it might have been in,” he told Newsweek. “I was pretty convinced it was going to be super dank and gross down there. I mentally prepared for the worst — maybe a few inches of murky water on the floor or a dirty, old mattress.”
She told to Newsweek, “The house was in great shape. It was the best I had seen that whole weekend, but there was just one catch: It had a creepy bomb shelter.”
Kyle humorously referred to the shelter as “The Sex Dungeon” but later clarified his intentions to repurpose it as a soundproof music room.
This new use would likely be more acceptable to neighbors and transform the unsettling area into a functional space.
The post quickly went viral and sparked debate on social media.
In the comment selection, many viewers shared their thoughts about the shock discovered by the couple.

While a third commented: I bet its cool down there… not a hurricane shelter?

Shag shelter. Definitely. Like a carpeted van but cooler. Chicks dig it. Another user added.
