Tesla’s Cybertruck is making headlines again, but not for good reasons. Drivers are discovering a major flaw when driving in snow.
Headlights obstructed by snow build-up
On social mdia, TikTok user Joe Fay shared a video revealing a significant issue with the Cybertruck’s front bumper design.
In his video, which has garnered over 2.9 million views, Fay shows how snow accumulates on the front bumper. This “ice wall” blocks the vehicle’s headlights, reducing visibility in snowy conditions.
Fay expressed his frustration: “I can’t believe Tesla didn’t think about this when they designed this giant shelf in front of the lights.”
Social media reaction
The video sparked a wave of sarcastic responses online, with users criticizing the electric vehicle’s design.
One person said: It is so ugly. These cyber trucks are pieces of junk
A second wrote: for 97% off that Cybertruck my 2016 Ford Focus is a fantastic car for snow driving.
While a third commented: Like any car, when it snows you have to clean your lights and wind shield before you drive.
Another added: You could have shoveled the snow to 6’ tall for a more dramatic effect.
Another added: If this is your vehicle….you have more money than brains!
Cybertruck drivers defend the design amid criticism
In a follow-up video, Fay attempted to defend the Cybertruck. He argued that snow build-up on the lights wouldn’t be a frequent issue.
“There might be occasional times where this happens, but I don’t see it being a major problem,” he said.
However, Fay admitted that many of the cameras on the vehicle were also rendered useless in snowy weather.
This defense didn’t resonate with viewers. One TikTok user mocked his explanation: “Dude drove 2 miles when it wasn’t snowing to prove it’s not a problem.”
Another sarcastically added, “There could be moments when you can’t see out of your 7-ton tungsten cube, but it’s fine, right?”
Owners share similar experiences
Fay’s experience isn’t unique. On the Cybertruck Owners Club forum, a user named MyOtherTruck shared a similar issue.
They explained, “The lights get clogged with snowfall, then freeze into an ice wall. My scraper couldn’t even remove it.”
Other owners chimed in with their accounts. One driver from Bangor, Maine, said, “I had 2 feet of visibility during a snowstorm with 10 inches of snow.”’
Divided opinions among Tesla fans
@jf.okay i can’t believe #tesla didn’t think of this…
Despite these complaints, Tesla fans were quick to shift the blame. Many argued that drivers should invest in solutions to prevent snow build-up on the headlights.
However, the snow issue adds to a growing list of Cybertruck controversies.
Since its launch, the Cybertruck has faced multiple challenges. As reported by CBS News, Tesla has issued five recalls for the vehicle within its first year.
The snow-related “ice wall” issue highlights ongoing concerns about the vehicle’s functionality in real-world conditions.
Tesla’s Cybertruck promised innovation and durability, but the snowfall fiasco raises questions about its practicality in harsh weather.
As winter progresses, Cybertruck owners and Tesla engineers may need to find solutions for these icy challenges.
