On October 16, Dante Colle, the Cyberstruck owner, shared a video on social media showing himself shooting at his truck.
He wanted to see if the vehicle’s stainless steel body could withstand bullets.
Initially, he shot at the truck and was shocked when the bullet penetrated the metal.
The realization hit him hard, and he was left with his hands on his head, clearly disappointed by the result.
Despite this initial setback, Dante did not give up. He moved to another side of the truck and fired again.
This time, the bullet did not go through. Dante’s experience raised questions about the vehicle’s actual bulletproof capabilities.
Many viewers were surprised to see the mixed results.
Elon Musk’s ‘bulletproof’ claims of Cybertrucks
Elon Musk first introduced the Cybertruck in 2019, proudly claiming its strength.
During the reveal, he had a metal ball thrown at the truck’s armored windows, but the glass shattered, leading to an awkward moment for Musk.
He joked that the ball may have been thrown too hard, but the incident left many skeptical about the truck’s durability.
Since then, Tesla has sold nearly 30,000 Cybertrucks.
The company promotes the vehicle as having an “ultra-hard stainless-steel exoskeleton” that can resist dents and damage over time.
They also claim that the “Armor Glass” can withstand the impact of a baseball traveling at 70 mph.
However, Dante’s recent test suggests that the reality may not be as clear-cut.
“Armor Glass can resist the impact of a baseball at 70 mph or class 4 hail. Acoustic glass helps make the cabin as quiet as outer space,” it adds.
Other features of Cybertruck
Beyond its bulletproof claims, the Cybertruck has other interesting features.
Musk has also said that the vehicle can be used briefly as a boat. He even mentioned that it could cross rivers and lakes.
However, this claim seems exaggerated. The Cybertruck has a “Wade Mode” that allows it to drive through shallow water.
This mode raises the vehicle’s height and protects the battery, but it can only be used for about 30 minutes.
“Cybertruck will be waterproof enough to serve briefly as a boat, so it can cross rivers, lakes and even seas that aren’t too choppy,” he penned on Twitter in September 2022.
Musk added: “Needs to be able to get from Starbase to South Padre Island, which requires crossing the channel.”

Dante’s video quickly gained attention online. Many people expressed their disbelief at his decision to shoot at the truck.
Some found the whole situation amusing, while others were concerned about the safety implications of such tests.
