A furious father admitted that he left a note in his daughter's lunchbox for her teachers to read and firmly instructed them not to dictate her food choices at school.
Ross Hunt, a father of three from Wales, shared a video on TikTok explaining his frustration with the way school staff were handling his daughter's lunchtime.
He said in his video that teachers insisted his daughter eat her vegetables and sandwiches before her sweet treats. Then he was furious and decided to place a note in her lunchbox to stop them 'sticking their nose in (his) daughter's business'.
The note bore the message: 'Welcome to my daughters' Lunch Box! We are aware of the contents of this box and are happy for her to eat whatever she wants.'
His actions have garnered applause from numerous people who shared their own stories of schools trying to control students' lunchbox choices.
In a TikTok video, the father expressed his exasperation with one of the school's lunch ladies who had been attempting to dictate his daughter's eating habits.
The father said he was 'irritated' at one of the dinner ladies at her school who has been telling her what she's allowed to eat.
This interference, he explained, had been deterring her from bringing her lunch to school. He remarked, 'It's alright if you eat the chocolate cake the school gives you but if you put one in their lunchbox they go 'Oh no you shouldn't have that'
While he printed out a second label, his partner, Rachel, discouraged its use. The alternative label was quite direct: 'Step away from the lunch box, you nosey f******** a*** bandit.'
The father admitted to being tempted to 'ram (the lunchbox) full of sweets but opted for a more balanced selection, including a sandwich, carrot sticks, an apple, a pear, a small bag of crisps, rainbow drop lollies, and a chocolate egg.
His overarching message was clear: 'In short, stop telling kids what they should and shouldn't eat, let the f***ing parents decide.'
After placing the note in the lunchbox, he hoped the teachers would take heed of his message. Hundreds of parents in the comments section expressed a shared sense of understanding and sympathy for his plight; however, others shared his frustration.
