The waitress sparked debate after revealing she only received 10% of a $700 bill from tourists.

Tip culture sparks debate and discussion. For workers such as drivers and waitresses, who often depend on tips due to lower wages, tipping is seen as a crucial part of their income. Many people recommend tipping delivery personnel as a form of salary support.

However, others argue against tipping, stating that drivers are already compensated through their work and the company's salary.

A female waitress from New York sparked debate after sharing a status on X, where she revealed her thoughts on tipping culture.

On X, before it was called Twitter, a female waitress sparks a recovery discussion among viewers after she said that she only receives 10% of a $700 bill from tourists.

According to a user on X, numerous users were dissatisfied after the waitress complained about a relatively small tip, arguing that 70% is a pretty decent amount of money for the other $700 bill.

The post read: "Imao, I 'f**king hate Europeans sometimes on god. This table just left $70 on a $700 check after chilling for hours. My manager even asked about their service, and they were over the moon about my service. He explained that the customary tip is 20%, and they were like, "Okay," and left.

According to Madison, tourists come to visit the Big Apple from somewhere in Europe. Instead of choosing things like 99-cent pizza slices and hot dogs from street vendors, the tourists opted for pricier dishes that racked up a check of $700.

Although Madison's manager told tourists that the customary tip is 20%, they left a 10 percent tip amounting to $70.

One person said: The main issue is that these companies require servers to tip out a sales percentage to bars and runners. So with that $700 sale, the server is already losing anywhere from 1-3% or more. Servers shouldn’t be required to cover the pay of other workers, an tbh the entire tipping system needs to be done away with.

A second wrote: Tips are not mandatory. Tips are a bonus that is given voluntarily by the customer for EXEMPLARY service.

While the third commented: The US should really look into this ridiculous system. The employer should take care of their employees.

Someone else said: In the UK,only tip if you want to and usually because the service is good 10% is acceptable here but I think in America they expect it as wages are so bad.
