A groom's outrage has caught attention as he revealed his fiancée was asked to pay an additional fee for undergarments that matched her skin tone at a wedding dress shop.
This unexpected and controversial request has sparked a debate regarding fairness for blacks, leaving many questioning colorism when white people were given free undergarments while black people were forced to pay a fee.
The man was furious at the colorism of the wedding dress store
Joey Kirchner met and fell in love with Tessa Tookes through Bachelor in Paradise Canada season 2.
The two were very excited to prepare for their wedding day until they encountered a condemnable situation of colorism at a wedding dress shop.
Kirchner said he was angry when his fiancee was asked by a wedding dress shop to pay extra for undergarments that matched her black skin tone, while nude undergarments were free.
He affirmed that was an act of discrimination against black-colored people.
Groom-to-be Joey Kirchner criticized the wedding dress designers and the wedding dress store for charging for his fiancee's undergarments
The man then posted a video expressing frustration on his TikTok account to criticize wedding dress designers and wedding dress stores for discriminating against skin color.
In the video, Kirchner said Tessa went to a wedding dress store with excitement, as this was one of the most beautiful days of her life to choose a gorgeous wedding dress.
However, after trying on the wedding dresses, Kirchner's fiancée, Tessa, was asked by an employee at the store to pay an extra fee for undergarments that matched her black skin tone, while the standard nude ones were completely free.
Kirchner angrily pointed out that the wedding dress store was trying to tell him free undergarments only for white people, but if his fiancée had dark skin, he would be forced to pay an additional fee.
He continued the video with a question asking "Why is white skin the standard?"
Kirchner angrily explained that nudes come in a variety of colors, but they assumed that white skin was the standard nude color.
Kirchner revealed that the incident left Tessa confused and feeling awkward with everyone at the wedding dress shop.
Above all, their colorism made Tessa's seemingly perfect day worse and she also couldn't get her favorite wedding dress.
At the end of the video, Kirchner said his fiancée ordered undergarments that best suited her instead of having to endure colorism at the wedding dress store.
