Dog with facial deformity has new life after 5 years being neglected

The dog who was abandoned due to his facial deformity fought stubbornly against heartworm disease to have a new life.

For five long years, Beaux Tox endured neglect, but his fate changed when a compassionate soul stepped in.

Now, with love and care, his remarkable journey of healing and transformation is an inspiring tale of resilience and hope.

The dog was born with a facial deformity

The Beaux Tox dog was born in Texas with an unusually concave skull, causing its eyes to be very close together. This anomaly is due to the narrow development space in the mother's womb when the mother dog gives birth to up to six puppies.

Fortunately, this deformity only affects Tox's appearance and does not cause any other danger to its health or intelligence.

However, Tox's strange appearance also made it difficult for the dog to integrate into society, leading to Tox being abandoned and not adopted by anyone for a long time.

Tox was given away for free and kept captive in a man's backyard for five years

Due to its facial deformity, the breeders could not sell it to anyone, so he decided to give the dog freely to a man living nearby in Austin, Texas. He gave the dog the name Lucky at that time.

It seemed like he had a real home, but the dog was kept in the backyard for 5 years just because the man's cats didn't like him. Lucky didn't even have a comfortable bed and had to live alone in the backyard.

Because he was abandoned for a long time, Lucky was infected with ear mites, his whole body was covered with fleas and his body was skinny and weak.

A new hope came with the dog with a facial deformity

Despite receiving local intervention many times to free the dog, it still had to return to its old home.

One day, the image of Lucky with a facial deformity spread on social networks, motivating a woman named Jamie Hulit to adopt the poor dog.

“I don't care what he looks like or how sick he might be,” Hulit said.

“That day I expressed to the former owner that I really wanted to take that dog back and give it a real home,”

Hulit went to pick up the dog and take it to the vet to be treated for skin conditions.

The dog with the facial deformity was discovered to have heartworm disease, almost losing his chance of survival.

After being taken to Hoegemeyer Animal Clinic in Kerrville, Texas, doctors discovered he had heartworm disease, a condition that causes permanent organ damage.

Given the bad condition at that time, the dog was too weak to undergo treatment. He had to use oxygen for more than a month and was once diagnosed that he would not survive until dawn.

The dog with a facial deformity resolutely fought, and a miracle came.

Months passed with the numerous efforts of the doctors and Hulit, the dog fought the heartworm disease, finding himself a second chance at life.

Beaux Tox began to show signs of improving health, gradually gaining weight and becoming more lively.

Despite this, the dog still lost hearing in his left ear due to a lice infection and had impaired vision in his right eye.

However, he finally found a new home and a wonderful owner, Hulit, who did everything to save him during the distress period.

"I paid much money for his health certificate. But I am totally 100% OK with that. It was really worth, knowing that he is now a happy, free guy," Hulit concluded.
