At a young age, Gyllenhaal faced a visual impairment, stemming from a lazy eye condition that eventually resolved itself.

However, despite the resolution, he has been legally classified as blind and has worn corrective lenses since he was six years old.

Interestingly, Gyllenhaal confessed that he sometimes intentionally removes his lenses while on set, particularly during challenging scenes.

This choice allows him to tap into a unique perspective and connect more deeply with his character.

By temporarily blurring his vision, he finds a space where he can truly immerse himself in the role, delving into the emotions and nuances of the character he portrays.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Gyllenhaal expressed his belief that his visual impairment has proven to be advantageous in his career.

He explained that the moments before he puts on his glasses in the morning when his vision is blurred, provide him with a rare opportunity for introspection and self-reflection.

This inward focus seems to contribute to his ability to bring depth and authenticity to his performances.

Similarly, in a previous interview with The Telegraph, he revealed that his corrective glasses made him an easy target for bullies during his childhood.

Despite the teasing and unwanted attention, he remained a sensitive individual who occasionally found himself in fights to defend himself.

It is not clear if Jake Gyllenhaal removed his contacts for the intimate scenes with Jennifer Aniston in the movie "The Good Girl."

In a recent interview with Howard Stern, Gyllenhaal talked about filming those scenes with Jennifer Aniston.

When asked if it was difficult because he had a crush on her, Gyllenhaal said it was a mix of both torture and enjoyment.

Stern jokingly asked if Gyllenhaal told Aniston that he couldn't control any potential "protrusion." Gyllenhaal found the word funny and confirmed that he did say it in that way.

Recently, opinions have been split among viewers regarding a new film featuring Jake Gyllenhaal, as it has been labeled the "best of 2024."

The movie, titled "Road House," has garnered both praise and criticism.

Gyllenhaal, known for his impressive acting repertoire, plays the lead role of Dalton, an ex-UFC fighter turned bouncer at a Florida Keys roadhouse.

The film has also received mixed reviews from critics, with a 60 percent Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes based on over 170 reviews.
