In 2015, Charles Fawcett, the founder and owner of the British automotive company Twisted, made an unusual investment.
He purchased 200 Land Rover Defenders, just a few years before the model was discontinued.
This bold decision has turned out to be a lucrative one. Currently, Fawcett and his company Twisted are refurbishing and reselling these Defenders for millions of dollars.

The vehicles are being customized, upgraded, and modified to the specific requirements of each customer. Features such as engines, brakes, suspension, wheels, tires, and interior are enhanced to meet the preferences of the buyers.
When Fawcett originally bought the Defenders in 2015, each one would have cost around $44,000. Now, the custom-made versions are being sold for $171,000 to $233,198, plus VAT, depending on the engine choice.
Fawcett strategically acquired these vehicles just before the Land Rover Defender model was discontinued in 2015, making them highly sought-after and collectible.
By helping customers build their ideal Defenders, Fawcett and Twisted have benefited from high demand.
"I went to the Defender production line at Solihull to meet the men and women building the vehicles. These sixteen 110s were hand-picked for their chassis numbers and build dates.
"They were all registered in 2016 - after production ceased - identifying them among the last off the line and, arguably, more collectible.
"They’re special, and when Twisted, each one is the only one. Hence the limited run is called One of One,” Fawcett said.
In another unique investment, a man earned $500,000 in just 2 years by investing in Lego sets.
This was in contrast to traditional investment channels like stocks, bonds, and gold, which provided much lower returns.
The story started in O'Farrell's childhood in Ireland, where he enjoyed playing with the Lego Fort Legoredo set.
Interestingly, more than 20 years later, the set's value would soar from $85 to $2,405. This presented an opportunity that O'Farrell would later take advantage of.
According to a 2022 study, the value of Lego sets has been growing at 11% per year, significantly outpacing stocks, bonds, and gold.
To maximize his profits, O'Farrell closely tracked Lego reports and trends, focusing on discontinued sets.
For example, he bought a Lego Star Wars TIE Fighter Pilot set for $60 before it was discontinued in 2021 and then sold it 18 months later for $350 - a 400% increase.
Despite the unexpected success, O'Farrell still maintains his regular job, as trading Lego sets requires minimal time investment.
He also dedicates time to sharing his experience and tips with others interested in this field through his YouTube channel, 'Brick Bucks.'
According to O'Farrell, the key to success is identifying Lego sets with the potential to increase in value over time. He claims that people just need to buy Lego sets, store them, and wait for the prices to rise
