Surprising Discovery in the Garden: 11kg World War II Bomb Shell
The previous owners of the house had mentioned that there was something metallic buried in the garden, but they thought it was just part of the water supply system. However, Ross quickly realized the danger when he spotted a percussion cap similar to that of a bullet.
Police Set Up Safety Zone and Handle the Suspicious Object

As soon as Ross discovered the strange object, he immediately called emergency services to ensure the safety of his family, especially his 9-year-old daughter. West Mercia Police advised him to keep a safe distance and send photos of the object.
Shortly after, a 100-metre safety cordon was set up around his house. The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) team, along with an explosives detection dog, arrived at the scene to inspect the bomb.
After about two hours, the experts confirmed that it was a 25-pounder artillery shell and that there were no explosives left inside. They cleaned the shell and returned it to Ross as a unique souvenir.
Creative Idea: Turning the Bomb Shell into a Beer Cooler for the Barbecue

After the incident was safely resolved, Ross decided not to leave the bomb shell unused. He plans to polish it and turn it into a creative beer cooler for his rescheduled barbecue party.
Ross excitedly shared: “I’m going to put ice in it and use it to hold bottles of beer. It’ll definitely be a great conversation starter when people visit my house.”
He added: “When you find something like that in your garden, you’ve got to do something with it. It might have wasted a day, but I’m glad everything turned out safely.”
