A couple missed their $3.8 million jackpot-winning due to a little-known rule, leading to the breakup of their marriage.

Martyn Tott, who comes from Hertfordshire, went through a chain of unlucky events that ended in a terrible mistake. This left him with nothing and emotionally devastated.

The couple unexpectedly won a $3.8 million jackpot.

Martyn and his wife, Kay, were extremely happy at first because they thought they had an unclaimed lottery ticket worth $3.8 million.

They were thrilled by the possibility of a life-changing amount of money, and it made them envision a better future.

However, their joy turned into sadness when they couldn't find the winning ticket.

Even though they were certain they had won because their numbers matched the jackpot, they couldn't find the actual ticket to prove it.

After the devastating mistake, Martyn and Kay rushed to inform the lottery organizer, Camelot, about their supposed triumph. However, their dreams were shattered when they were informed of a little-known rule: lost tickets must be reported within 30 days.

Tragically, their window of opportunity had closed, sealing their fate and leaving them in financial ruin.

Following the devastating mistake, the couple initiated a public campaign seeking assistance.

They were fortunate enough to receive backing from well-known figures, including Richard Branson and Tony Blair.

Sir Richard even flew them to his private Necker Island for a week to try and lift their spirits.

Blair's wife, Cherie Booth QC, provided legal advice at a discounted rate but determined that pursuing the case would not be worthwhile.

The heartbreaking news had a severe impact on the couple's relationship.

The stress from the loss and the legal challenges became too much for them to handle, eventually resulting in the breakdown of their marriage.

Despite knowing each other for only two years, they found themselves constantly fighting and unable to find any agreement. The emotional pain became unbearable, and Kay had no choice but to leave their home.

During the difficulties, Martyn looked for comfort and meaning. He found solace in his faith and became a Christian, finding support and a new connection with a woman named Tanya from America.

However, this new path had its obstacles.

Martyn learned that the church he joined expected members to give 10% of their income to the church leader.

Feeling disappointed  Martyn decided to go back to the UK, realizing that his hopes for a fresh beginning were crushed once more.

In a last effort to seek fairness, Martyn took legal action against Camelot, aiming to regain what he thought belonged to him.

Sadly, luck was not on his side, and his supporter decided to withdraw their help. This left Martyn with the devastating realization that he would never be able to recover the millions he had lost.
