In a recent video on TikTok that sparked controversy and criticism, a UK mum named Tiffany Chesson opened up about her decision not to buy one of her children a Christmas gift this year.
Prefacing her explanation by emphasizing that she doesn't have a favorite child.
She supposed that her five-month-old daughter was too young to understand or appreciate a Christmas gift.
Additionally, Chesson cited their tight budget due to her being on maternity pay, leading her to prioritize allocating funds to more important things.
"There is no point in buying her a Christmas present, she's too young to understand and appreciate it," she said in a video.
But Ms. Chesson emphasized that she doesn't mind if her daughter receives gifts from other people.
"My friends and family are going to buy her presents and that's okay," she said. 'Next year she'll be 18 months at Christmas and she'll definitely be getting presents then."
Chesson firmly asserted that she feels no pressure to spend money and believes it to be unnecessary.
"I'm not damaging my bank account by trying to keep up with the Joneses and buy her loads of stuff she doesn't need," she added.
