A rapper may face serious health risks after having gold chains surgically implanted in his head to look like hair.
In a shocking revelation, Spanish musician Dan Sur has attracted attention for a daring fashion choice.
He surgically inserted metallic chains into his scalp to create a unique hairstyle.
This bold move, which he unveiled on TikTok in 2021, has sparked concerns among experts regarding its safety and potential health hazards.
While some people admire this bold fashion choice, experts have warned against copying it.
They say there are serious health risks and possible long-term problems.
The rapper first introduced his unique hair on TikTok
Dan Sur’s announcement on TikTok about transforming his locks into metallic chains sent shockwaves through the music and fashion world.
In a video, he described the detailed procedure of implantation.
He showed the hooks that were embedded in his skull under the skin to create the look of golden hair.
The rapper confidently declared himself the first person in history to have gold hair implants.
Dan said: “I have it as a hook that is implanted in my head and that hook has hooks and they are all hooked in my skull, under my skin.
“This is my hair. Golden hair. The first rapper to have gold hair implanted in human history.”
Experts raise concerns about the deadly risks the rapper would face
Despite Dan Sur’s apparent satisfaction with his unconventional appearance, medical experts have swiftly cautioned against following in his footsteps.
Plastic surgeon Dr. Frank Agullo expressed serious concerns about the safety of these implants.
He emphasized the risks of introducing bacteria into the body through the implanted hooks.
Dr. Frank Agullo mentioned the fragile nature of the bone that covers the brain.
He also expressed concerns about the weight of the chains, warning that they could cause dislodgement or even skull fractures.
“Implants like this are not safe. They introduce an easy path for bacteria between the outside world and the internal body.
In this case, the bone covering the brain,” Dr. Frank Agullo said.
Dr. Frank Agullo added: “In addition, I am concerned about the amount of weight these hooks are supporting.
The weight or any accidental tug on a band of gold could cause the implant to dislodge and even fracture the skull.”
Dermatologist Dr. Mona Gohara shared these concerns, emphasizing the risks of permanent hair loss and scalp inflammation.
She also warned about the potential for scarring from the constant presence of hooks on the scalp.
Although Dan Sur has shown off his metallic locks for over three years without any noticeable problems, experts continue to warn against similar procedures.
They especially caution younger individuals about the risks involved.
“I would strongly discourage anyone [from undergoing this procedure], for all the risks and complications involved.
“Especially at a young age, long-term consequences need to be considered.
“I think there are other, more sensible, and easily reversible alternatives like wearing a wig with gold chains. I don’t believe that it needs to be anchored to your skull,” Agullo emphasized.
