The Met Gala event rings the celebrities in the world.
The Met Gala, an event that showcases some of Hollywood's most famous faces dressed to the nines, was held on Monday, May 6.
The event took place at New York City's Metropolitan Museum of Art and serves as a fundraiser for the museum’s Costume Institute.
This year's event had many talking points, from Kim Kardashian's controversial outfit and Doja Cat's wet T-shirt look to Camila Cabello's ice block and AI pics of Katy Perry.
Several celebrities faced criticism as well as praise after breaking the rules of the Met Gala
However, many stars broke a rule that was implemented by Vogue's Editor-in-Chief, Anna Wintour, in 2015.
According to a notice from Wintour, the rule stated, "The use of phones for photography and social media will not be permitted inside the gala.".
Ayo Edebrir.
Actor Ayo Edebiri shared a selfie on her Instagram Story, featuring musician Troye Sivan and her Bottoms co-stars, Nicholas Galitzine, Kaia Gerber, and Rachel Sennott.
This selfie offered fans a unique insight into the Met Gala as it showed off the stage inside the museum.
Lizzo
Lizzo was another famous face who took to social media during the Met Gala.
She shared a video from the Metropolitan Museum of Art’s bathroom on TikTok, dancing around with none other than Uma Thurman and Stella McCartney.
Cardi B
Cardi B also broke the no social media protocol as she shared a video of herself at her table at the event on her Instagram Story.
In one video, she waved and smiled at the camera, while another saw her film basketball star Angel Reese as they were sitting next to each other. “Say happy birthday to my one and only,” the rapper captioned the video. The Met Gala happened to fall on Reese’s 22nd birthday.
On social media, many expressed their shock after several celebrities broke the rules of the Met Gala.
One person said: They won't be invited back. I think Lizzo's career is over anyway.
A second wrote: And they should all be banned! This is what's wrong with the world now. People that think they don't have to follow any rules at all. We're doomed... RULES ARE IN PLACE FOR A REASON!
While a third commented: Yep let's teach the younger generation it's OK to break rules that you don't like and u will be praised for it. If you don't want to follow the rule of where ever you are going then don't go!
Another added: Hope they are banned going forward. What a society we live in. Singing praises after breaking the rules. Sad times.
Someone else said: Imagine that, celebrities breaking the rules because they think they are above them. How is this brave?
Anna Wintour reveals the unique food rules in the Met Gala
Previously, in an interview with Today host Jenna Bush Hager at the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Restoration Lab, Wintour explained some of these rules just days before the Met Gala event.
In the interview, Anna Wintour shared some behind-the-scenes information about the event.
According to Wintour, these include onions, chives, and garlic. "Well, those are three things I'm not particularly fond of, and so yes, that's true,” Wintour stated.
These ingredients are banned from the cooking process.
In addition, celebrities need to follow the rule of not taking selfies on the red carpet.
Wintour added, "It's often wonderful to hear after dinner, people say, ‘Oh, we had the most wonderful conversations,’ and so that's the idea, that life can exist without a picture on your cell phone."
Additionally, several celebrities also need to adhere to the following rules:.
The Met Gala also has an age limit, and no one under 18 is allowed to attend. According to Anna Wintour, the Met Gala event brings a lot of information suitable for adults and offers more experiences.
In 2018, when asked if she would attend the Met Gala red carpet, 16-year-old model and dancer Maddie Ziegler told The Hollywood Reporter: "I can't go because I'm not old enough."
Smoking is also prohibited
The Met Gala invitation clearly states that smoking is strictly prohibited.
In 2017, Bella Hadid, Dakota Johnson, and Marc Jacobs were found smoking in the museum's bathroom. The incident disappointed board members and sponsors, who said it was "disrespectful to art.
Wintour has strict rules about seating arrangements.
At the Met Gala, husbands and wives can never sit together.
“The point of an event is to meet new people and be interested in what other people are doing. If you’re here to hang out with your husband, then what’s the point?” Sylvana Ward Durrett, director of special projects at Vogue, told Pagesix.
