The company then banned their use of their position to  'gain an unfair advantage over guests' when purchasing products, especially limited-stock items like the coveted Valentine's Day Stanley Cup.

Carter felt disappointed after being fired because of a $50 mug

She has not only an impeccable record throughout her nearly two-decade career in the retail industry, but she has also never been reprimanded, called out, or tardy; she believed her loyalty and dedication would be valued by the company.

Expressing her disappointment, Carter stated,  'I just don't think they're doing right. I mean, for a cup. Come on, a cup.''

'I allowed one of my team members to buy a cup because he was my team member, and he was one of the people who was consistently closing with me. When we'd have callouts, I could count on him to come in and help.'

This case raises questions about the fairness of Target's actions and the potential influence of corporate decision-making.

After the incident, seven workers, however, were merely a few among many at their respective stores facing the same consequences and believe they were treated unjustly.
