The incident occurred on a rural road in New South Wales, Australia, early in the morning.

Goff managed to apply the brakes just in time, resulting in a gentle impact with the kangaroo. Surprisingly, both the animal and the car escaped unscathed.

However, Goff soon discovered that his Tesla Model 3 had activated a little-known safety feature called the "active hood."

The active hood is designed to minimize damage to the vehicle, driver, and any object or creature involved in a collision.

In this case, despite the absence of visible damage, the feature had been triggered, leading to unexpected expenses.

Goff expressed his concern on Facebook, questioning the cost of resetting the active hood and wondering if there was a way to push it back into place to avoid any embarrassment while driving.

While some commenters suggested attempting to manually readjust the hood, others advised Goff to have his car serviced as the process of deploying the active hood could be destructive and require the replacement of certain components.

They recommended contacting the service center and referring to the owner's manual for guidance.

Previously, a Tesla Cybertruck driver was left shocked when his brand-new vehicle broke down immediately after a routine car wash.

The incident, which has sparked a heated debate online, has raised concerns about the reliability and safety of the Cybertruck.

The driver, known as @captain.ad on TikTok, took to social media to share a video of the unfortunate incident. Despite having driven the $80,000 Cybertruck for only 3,400 miles, the vehicle suddenly became unresponsive after a simple wash to remove sand accumulated during a beach trip.

In the video, the owner explained that he attempted to reset the vehicle, but to no avail.

Although the Cybertruck appeared drivable, the lack of functioning displays and speedometer rendered it unfit for the road.

When contacting Tesla, the Cybertruck owner was informed that this was a "known issue" with the vehicle.

However, it was revealed that the screen reset process, which should have taken only two minutes, actually required a staggering five hours in the Cybertruck.

Tesla assured the owner that they were aware of the problem and hoped to address it in a future software patch.

Interestingly, the Cybertruck user manual acknowledges potential issues related to washing the vehicle.

It warns owners that failure to activate the Car Wash Mode may result in damage to the charge port or windshield wipers, which are not covered by the warranty.
